Merged: Mauia "Thug" or "Superhero"?

I dont know how I feel... Hes definately a jackass for getting himself arrested, but I am torn from the aspect of releasing him or not. If he was driving drunk and killed somebody then id say release him immediately, but although I am not condoning his actions, bar fights happen, he just should have been smart enough to know he is a high profile guy and get his *** out of there

yeah, release a 23 year old fullback, that was opening holes for ronnie brown, I am sure if Samson Satele knocked somebody out you wouldn't be talking about release him! its not like he is a Chris Henry who is always getting in trouble. Parcells has dealt with worse players before. I doubt he gets release.

Exactly . . . and look how long the PacMan's and Henry's stay on the team . . . if they were 6th and 7th round picks who haven't had immediate impacts on the team . . . they would be gone . . . but let them have just a little bit of importance . . . u think the team is just going to out right cut them? Nah . . . .Mauia is young and he did something stupid . . . hopefully he learns from the mistake.

From the context of the article you can tell that the point the article was trying to make is that . . . Mauia's actions should be a benchmark for thugs . . . Parcells doesn't want thugs . . . he may serve as an example to see what actions Parcells and company may take to justify there "no thugs" mentality.

could care less, we can get a good fullback through FA or the draft, not to mention we already got grigsby

I thought it was just an opinion... Oh well... you guys know my stance on it from my post... Bar fights happen, things could be worse.

I agree . . . I get tired of these double standards for players not AS highly coveted. These guys need to be smarter about things . . . but it was a bar fight . . . u mix alcohol and women . . . u will get those on occassion . . . Mauia needs to know better . . . and I'm sure Parcells and company will sit him down and talk to him about it.

Why dont we wait until all of the facts are out?

Typical over reaction by media and fans.

Lets see, guy is just standing there in the parking lot minding his own buisness when this big dude just comes up and knocks him out for no reason at all. Yeah right, that smells like a heaping pile of BS if there ever was one. :rolleyes2:

I have yet to hear the other side of this story. For all you guys know the guy could have spit on him or been taking a leak on his hood. The guy could have been mad that Mauia hit on his girlfriend and called him out and got what he asked for. :emjai:

I very seriously doubt the guy who got knocked out is going to give the whole story up. Don't put so much faith in all the biased garbage the media spoon feeds you. Of course fighting is not the answer but it doesnt mean the guy didnt deserve it.

interesting, but all that you just said could be all non sense if it was Mauia, and if it was Mauia, he shouldnt have hit him, hes a NFL player making big bucks, he dont need to punch someone in the face to hold down a rep. boy o boy, some fans just never cease to amaze me

Plus even if ti did happen that way it's reported that doesn't make him a thug. One (and lets admit it, its) minor incident isn't enough to just label someone who as far as I know has a spotless record a thug.

He's a young guy, maybe had a couple of beers, maybe had some friends watching, maybe had a bad day, and did something stuipd. Happens to all of us at some point(maybe not punching a random person but we've all done really stuipd things that maybe should have gotten us arrested) so lets A) see all the facts and B) how he reacts to both this and the upcoming months before we just cut him and try to run him out of the NFL

our previous fo has released guys for far less. i remember the corner that was racing in another players car(name excapes me) and he was cut like the next day. we also realesed the dt who was becomeing a fan fave for being publicy intoxicated(that alone was not in total descision for realese as he was busted in texas with pot). yet we haven't released matt roth for wrecking his car, fleeing the scene, and having a firearm without a permitt.
maui should of drilled holes around the guy then punched him if he wanted to be a badash. this time of yr sucks for me as if we aren't hearing about players getting injured they are getting arrested.
