ESPN just showed their rankings for the 2010 season of teams ranked 16-9. Miami was ranked 11. Trey Wingo asked Mike Golic if any team was rated too high and he said the Dolphins. He said they should be lower because Chad Henne is unproven.

I agree with Golic. What say you?

Dolphins ranked 11th in ESPN Ultimate NFL Rankings

Heading into training camp, we asked all of our NFL Analysts and Insiders to rank all 32 NFL teams. Looking at teams ranked 9-16, the Dolphins are the only team on this list that had a losing record (7-9) last season. Hear which teams Mike Golic believe are getting dis-respected by being on this list. The NFL season kicks off Thursday, September 9, when Minnesota heads down to New Orleans (8:30 PM) to face the defending champs and the million dollar question, will Brett Favre be under center.

11th, so that would mean barely make the playoffs. I think the Dolphins can do that maybe even get a decent seed. Do they deserve to be ranked 11th, I'd say absolutely not. They were 7-9 last year:(

If Henne blossoms: we're probably 6-9
If Henne plays mediocre: we're probably 15-18

So, yeah, I'd say 11th is about right.

I think that rating is about right. I would say we are in the 8-14 range. This season could end up anywhere from us being the division winner to being just outside the playoff picture.

This time of the season all you can base your team ranking on is 1) Where they finished last season 2) Players gained in the draft 3) Players gained / lost through free agency 4) Injured players that will return this season 5) Coaching. Basically, it is all about the potential of this team. I think 11th is about right for us right now. We were 7-9 last season, had what looks to be a good draft, gained some high quality players in the off-season, and really, to be completely honest did not lose a whole heck of a lot. We get some key players back from injury, and our coaching staff was good and got better with the addition of Nolan. Sparano will also be better with another year under his belt.

Golic said we should be ranked lower because Henne is unproven. To me, right now Henne is maybe 3rd on my list of position concerns. I am a little more worried about the OLB and FS positions, than I am about QB. Henne will be fine.

i think that ranking isnt to bad, but golics reasoning i didnt agree with. if his reason for us being to high at 11 bc chad henne is unproven, wat about the jets with marc sanchez, he hasnt proven **** yet, and yet the jets r ranked 10 or better.

If Golic said we should be ranked lower because Henne is unproven, then where are the Jets ranked, because if they are ranked higher then the Dolphins with an even more unproven Sanchez, that would make him look like pretty clu....well actually more clueless then normal.

I think willo Mike's fewings are still hurt since he was cut from the Dolphins.

Dallas nose tackle Jay Ratliff, appearing as a guest analyst, said he felt Miami should have been picked higher.

“We all know to win in this game you have to be able to run the ball,” Ratliff said, “and they have two of the best running backs in the game. Then they have a physical offensive line, and on defense they added Karlos Dansby to shore things up in the middle. By Week 8 Jason Ferguson should come back, so they should be able to make a run in their conference.”

maybe Ratliff wants out of Dallas after they have another epic fail year. anyone having to listen to Golic speak should be sent flowers & a card.

On paper, that's about right.

And yes Golic is awful. He's always hated the fins, but I just find him incredibly annoying in general.

Exactly. He's gonna say the Jets have potential in Mark Sanchez and off season additions of Jason Taylor (old), LT (old), and Antonio Cromartie (1st year wonder?).
