We already have a top ten to top five defense every year, and miss the playoffs. Capers has the defense playing well, and maybe he can fix the secondary with Saban gone. We have already missed the mark with defensive coordinators as head coaches - Wanny, Saban.

I want an offensive guy, but I'm not sure I'm sold on Cam. Hasn't San Diego been trashed in the past for being too conservative. I know they call it Martyball, but either Cam is making conservative calls or doesn't have the balls to call his own plays. Plus that O-line and LT would make anyone look good.

Right now I think I'm leaning towards Chow. I haven't seen him discussed here. I've heard he's lacking in personality, what are the other knocks on him? Shouldn't we at least interview him? Look what he has done with a rookie quarterback (and less weapons than San Diego) in Tenessee. Plus every quarterback he works with turns to gold and we could obviously use some help in that area.

Norm Chow is in Tennessee and if, IMO, he was to go anywhere it would be to Arizona so he can be reunited with Matt Linehart.

If he was offered a HC job here he would take it arizona or not. Chow would be a very interesting canidate and my own personal choice with Capers as the DC

Guys this is who we need to get.........and it hurts one of our opponents too...hes young and really creative with his play calling.....

Why do you see him take this job over the Az one? Other than money, what do we have to offer him that they don't or wouldn't? He gets to work with a QB he already knows, two of the games best wrs and Edge.

That has nothing to do whatsoever with having balls. If the HC says we're playing it conservative, you'll call conservative plays if you want to remain employed. Saying "screw you" and calling different plays isn't showing balls, it's showing a lack of respect.

I probably didn't choose my words well. I agree to some extent. You obviously don't say "screw you". But the offensive coordinator's style should come out, at least a little. If Cam is qualified to be a HC shouldn't he be able to at least convince Marty to let him run the plays he chooses. If not then he is not as assertive as I would like my Head Coach to be. Better?

The OC does call the plays but the HC chooses what and when to run certain ones. If it's 4th and 1 the HC decides not the OC. Does that mean the OC lack aggressiveness? No.

It means he lacks persuasiveness, which I consider a virtue.

No that means the HC calls the shots and if you want to keep your job...you do what he says.

Guess we just have different opinions about the appropriate relationship between a HC and OC. Are you a big fan of Tom Coughlin?

ownership there is a mess but here is a great ownership group, the market. The chance just to get a job here if offered first. The tradition of this franchise as well

I agree. Trick plays, fieldgoals and punts are all up to the HC. However, I would want every play ran through me and if I liked it in the situation, i'd give it the ok.

Sort of like the many 2nd and one plays we chose to ran on this year. a quarter of them I would of called a deep pass. Especially since we had a guy that was pretty good in short yardage. Mularkey blows.... I'm glad Saban left now, I wish Mularkey would go with him.
