I'm excited about this because he played well in 2004, dominated NFLE last year, then didn't show up to TC, now I know why, but the guy has skills and luckily Saban see that in him.. If he plays like he did in NFLE and Carey can go to rg, we will have a great OL...with Pape at RT..Man how great is that that a RT just drops into our mist, without having to pay a whole lot for him.

Pape will have a hard time even making the team let alone starting. Keep in mind Alabi is also in the fold.

Alabi is the LT, Pape played RT and play it very well, he will be hungary to prove that he belongs and like Ricky will work hard to make up for quitting last yeart...but the guy has skills and Houck can probably get the real potential out of him, I hope he's more than TC foddler, because he was improving greatly last year, I just hope he continues to excel.

Dont expect Pape to crack the starting lineup...

He is a project... a promising project... but still a project...

Alabi played LT in college but was RT all through training camp last year. Does that mean he'll stay at RT this year? no, but only the coaching staff knows that.

As far as Pape goes, saying you dominated in NFLE isn't really saying much. Not to take anything away from the league but there is a huge drop off between NFLE and the NFL.

And didn't Pape get his lunch served to him by Udeze in the Rose Bowl?

I saw him play last year in NFLE and boy is that guy slow. In order to be starting RT in the NFL he shoudl have dominated the DE in the NFLE. And I was not too impressed. So, do not expect too much

Whoa, take it easy, he hasn't played in a year. He's not going from couch to starting in the NFL.

That's not good. Seems like there is a potential for another AWOL or Manny crying game incident. Camp fodder, with slight potential. Thanks for helping me set my expectations.

Yeah right, Saban is going to re-align our OL just because someone who has done nothing remarkable in NFL decided to come back from his I'm-tired-child-excuse year. Come on man, this just doesn'n work in that way, Saban gave him a chance because he has nothing to lose, he's only one more option to training camp, a minimum salary guy who will fight for a place in the roster, NFLE perforance means nothing here. He has a lot to prove and I think the guy probably could make the final 53-man roster at best.

Saban A Class Act

Saban deserves a round of applause for the way he handles personnel. The article on Tony Pape describes what a Class Act coach is all about.

indeed!

Let's remember... the guy was what a 7th round pick? He played well in NFL Europe, don't count on the guy being an NFL starter ever. He COULD, but I wouldn't count on it.
