Anyone following the Patrick Ramsey situation?

For whatever reason, Joe Gibbs and the Redskins just dont like Patrick Ramsey and have done everyhting possible to replace him. Gibbs' first move as Skins HC was to sign Mark Brunell to a ridiculously large contract. Then, after that move failed, they traded a ton of draft picks to move back into round one to draft QB Jason Campbell of Auburn. Its really mind boggling, because the kid has a really good arm and made tremendous strides in his first full season as a starter.

Noone is talking about it now, but Ramsey is a GONER in DC. He is my darkhorse to be cut on June 1st if they dont trade him beforehand.

NOW, since Ramsey played at Tulane in New Orleans, I imagine Saban has seen him play quite a bit while at LSU. Moreover, it was was VERY surpriing that he refused to draft a QB in this years draft. Not taking anything against Feely, but I think we were all a bit surprised that Nick didnt roll the dice on a signal caller on draft day. Makes you wonder what he really thinks about our QB situation. Is he REALLY sold on Feely/Ferrotte? I dont know. Could be.

Still, I wouldnt be surprised if he is keeping his eye on Ramsey in the event that he becomes available. Obviously Im just speculating at this point, but stay tuned.

I can't possibly see him being cut. I just expect him to play out his contract and be the best available FA QB next year.

Trade Feeley to them for ramsey...j/k

pick ramsey up if he gets cut june 1st though

He is an option if he becomes a FA at the end of his contract, but no way we trade for him and no way he is cut.

Is he an FA next year? He has played three full seasons - this year will be his fourth year in the league?

..no i dont see why he would be a topic..considering we have about a 0.01 chance of getting him

i can see this yr being Ramsey's last yr with the Skins unless he pulls a Bree's. if he delivers then the skins will keep him atleast one more yr to give Campbell time to develop. we looking at a similar SD situation in Washington if Ramsey has a good yr.

i wouldnt mind ramsey... he was a victim of a crappy O-line

I like Ramsey; I think he'll be a good pro. However, I don't think he'll be a June 1 cut, not when Mark Brunell is getting paid a ton of money for being over the hill and crappy. He's the more likely cut, and we would have NO use for him.

The Skins could wheedle at least a mid-round pick for Ramsey if they decided to dump him now; he's young, got some talent, and is relatively cheap right now. Since St. Nick regards picks so highly, I doubt we'll pay that.

I don't have a problem giving up a fourth round pick for Ramsey. I'd have been fine with a third rounder for Feeley for that matter. I just expect a solid starter when giving up a second or higher.

Ramsey could at least be an experienced #2 QB, but would really push Feeley for the starting spot. Gus is too old to be more than a one year solution at QB if AJ falters.

The Redskins will be hurting for draft picks next year anyway, so why not make an offer? We'd only have to pay Ramsey his base salary too, the Redskins eating his signing bonus money. Should make him cheaper than signing him as a FA.

Gibbs won't start a young QB...that was why he brought in Brunell. Don't expect Campbell to be in the mix for a couple of years.

Ramsey outplayed Brunell last season. Expect Ramsey to continue to be the starter for the Skins. Ramsey could become available in a couple of years.

The only player they have been trying to get of is Gardner.

Ramsey WILL BE available next year, not in a couple of years. If the Redskins fell like they need a key position player and Campbell or Brunell is impressive in camp they could make a deal considering they will lose Ramsey next year, however it's likely they just play out his contract.

Ramsey will be cut next year for cap relief unless something changes. The Redskins are in cap hell in 2006, and every million will help bail them out.

It's very doubtful he's going anywhere this year unless he forces a trade like Coles did. Even that window may be gone, though.

Between Ramsey and the "loser" among Brees/Rivers, I'm pretty confident our QB of the future should Feeley fail is going to be a free agent (or trade for Rivers) signed next offseason.
