Merged:Phins sign Brian Soi

So it is true... Great find. Doesnt hurt to give him a look

Camp body, will not make this team, probably won't make the practice squad. However, there's nothing wrong with adding a little competition.

I'm going to be watching him when the pads come on and he plays some preseason games. The guy that came on here that works with his brother, EauGallieFish was his name...he was DEAD ON with this signing and should get tons of credit for breaking the news to everyone. He reported that Miami made a deal with him like the day of or the day after the Supplemental Draft.

He also reported that Soi checked in at 6'3" and 331 pounds, ran a 4.92 and 4.96, did 41 reps of the bench press, had a 28 inch vertical, 8'11" broad jump, and did well during drills. According to EauGallieFish, he:

He also did various pass rushing drills numerous times and even gave one of the Falcons reps a fourarm shiver and sent hime flying to the ground. In the middle of one of his drills he puked and rinsed his mouth out and went back to work. This guy is an animal. He only had two weeks to prepare for the supplemental because he was still trying to transfer to BYU taking summer classes but was determined academically ineligable.

All the credit to this guy...

Personally I think this is one of a couple guys they targeted to replace Fred Evans in camp. Soi will be asked to compete with Kevin Vickerson, Marquay Love, and Steven Fifita. But, if those measurements are accurate, he may be able to beat out Fifita and Love and come to compete directly with Vickerson for an actual roster spot. I give him an actual chance at making the 53-man roster.

Nice to finally get confirmation. I think you might be wrong. With the eye popping numbers (if true) and the loss of Evans, I think he's got an excellent shot at making the roster....

I agree with you. He will have to show well against Kevin Vickerson, who just showed very well in NFL Europe...but if those numbers are accurate, and with Soi being a former high school standout with academic issues hindering him in college...he's got a shot, definitely.

I think with Wright and Vickerson not to mention Traylor and Soliai he has little chance to make the squad. If those 'EYEPOPING" numbers were real he would have been drafted a week ago.

if 6'3 331 is accurate, he is definetly evans replacement....we need 2 behind truck cause truck wont make the full season...

he has a very good chance of makin the team unless Vick can play NT...

theres the question, can we expect vick to play NT

CK, I hate to ask you to do the math, but how do those numbers look according to your model?

If those numbers are real, I can't wait to watch him in preseason. I'm not sure how you guys feel about this but the Dolphins lead the NFL in Samoans. I personally think it's awesome.

Man. With Brian Soi that makes 5 players of Samoan descent on the team. We're going to the have the American Samoa island market and a lot of the Hawaiian market rooting for us. Hopefully, they can get NFL Sunday Ticket over there to watch all the games. That's a heck of a long plane ride over to Miami for those fans to make it though. It ain't cheap either. Hopefully, they'll go to some of our away games when we go out west.

Maybe the team can pitch in a little to fly the families of our new guys over to Miami for a few home games this year. We need some of those guys in the stands. I bet they're really good, loud fans. Maybe one of them can put on the Hawaii Warrior face paint and all that ... maybe do a Haka in the stands or something. :D

Comes out very, very good...but we don't have shuttle, cone, 10 or 20 times so I can't really plug anything in.

The 28 inch vertical isn't all that great, the broad jump is decent, the 40 time is a touch on the unbelievable side, and the bench reps are believable at 331 pounds and yet still impressive.
