MERGED: Raiders, Titans Drop Out of Culpepper Hunt

Culpepper Update

At 4 pm EST on SportsCenter, it was said that John Clayton has learned that the Raiders and Titans have pulled out of the Culpepper hunt when they found out the asking price was a 2nd round pick, and that the ONLY team that continues to show interest in Cully is the Dolphins.

If Brees chooses the Saints, I think Saban will pull the trigger on a deal for Daunte. I expect we will have a QB by Sunday night.

I would not give up a 2nd Rnd Pick for Culpepper considering his injury and the fact that the Vikings will probably just cut him if noone wants to trade....

That's good news I guess. Do you guys think Saban is waiting to trade for Duante until he knows what is happening with Brees, for example, what his contract demands are etc.?

If you go by rumors, basically everyone who has reported to have been interested in Daunte Culpepper besides the Dolphins has now backed out.

The Rams were rumored by that Vikings site, who later retracted it.

The Raiders, Cardinals, Titans, and Jets were all reportedly interested, but all of them have been susposedly eliminated now.

I'm hopeful. :D

I agree, if we have to pull the trigger on DC the price went down to a 4th this year. They will not pay the bonus.

I think Saban may have flown to see Brees just to get an idea of what he wants contract-wise, and we may see us get more aggressive with Daunte if Brees wanted too much.

My opinion is if we lose Brees to the Saints, then we must give up the 2nd rounder for Culpepper. Once he heals that knee, he would be a great fit in Miami and he's only 29. I would be estatic if we got Culpepper, even if we had to give up a 2nd rounder.

if wanny was still in charge of our drafting i would be ok with giving up a first rounder but not with saban in charge. afterall, wanny would just piss it away on a player like jamar fletcher who'd be a bust regardless.
