ESPN - ESPN's Sportscenter is reporting that the Toronto Raptors will swap Charlie Villanueva to the Milwaukee Bucks for T.J. Ford and cash considerations.

Bucks General Manager Larry Harris has confirmed the deal, which was posted on the Bucks website.

“The hard part of any trade is having to give up something in return,†Harris said. “T.J. is a talented, young athlete who gave his all to this organization for three years, both on and off the court. He was an inspiration to all of us when he found the will and strength to fight back from the neck injury he suffered during his rookie season. Many people thought he would never play basketball again, but he thrived in the face of adversity and now has the promise of a long NBA career ahead of him. We wish him much success in Toronto.â€Â

The trade will give the Bucks a formidable frontcourt with last year's first overall selection Andrew Bogut and Villanueva, while the Raptors fill their biggest hole at point guard.

WTF?

I thought the Raptors love Villanueva.

The Bucks are going to be good.

Colangelo is wheeling and dealing in Toronto...sounds like a fair trade to me.

Ah man, T.J. Ford, one of my favorite players goes from a team I hate to a team I hate, only in Canada.

Toronto got banged. You never trade a good big for a good injury prone guard. A good big is harder to find. You dont need a true PG to win just someone who can bring the ball up and handle the rock a little

I don't really care for this deal, really. T.J. Ford is a good player, but I believe Villanueva is a better player right now with far better potential as well. One thing about basketball is, you don't trade big for small unless small is either much younger or gonna put you over the top. That's not the case here either way. For Toronto, look at it as if Colangelo badly wanted a pass-first PG, and that's what he has now. Rasho/Bosh will start in the frontcourt, with Bargnani expected to contribute off the bench now. For Milwaukee, they got one hell of a forward with great potential. That staff really likes Maurice Williams, so don't expect them to jump all over Mike James or anything like that. Right now.......

Toronto:
1 - T.J. Ford
2 - Morris Peterson
3 - Joey Graham
4 - Chris Bosh
5 - Rasho Nesterovic

Milwaukee:
1 - Maurice Williams
2 - Michael Redd
3 - Bobby Simmons
4 - Charlie Villanueva
5 - Andrew Bogut

Milwaukee really looks like a playoff team right now, provided they can acquire some depth. Jamal Magloire is definitely on the move, and maybe they can use him to add some depth to go along with Charlie Bell on the bench. The scary thing about that team is, out've those 5 starters, Michael Redd is the oldest! Toronto is now in desperate need of a swingman..

Trading a good young Big Man for a Guard burns you 99.99999% of the time. Terrible trade. You never give up big men that arent lazy and eating cap room.

Raps made the trade because they already have Bosh, and Charlie can't play the 3.

IMO it's an even trade.

Raps needed a PG who can pass, and push the tempo (something none of their PGs can/could do). Bucks needed another bigman (Magloire is getting traded too)

I also don't think it's fair to call TJ injury prone when he's only had 1 injury (granted it was a very serious injury.

I would also like to point out that the trade was made to show Bosh this is his team. Ever since VC was traded everybody has been chuckers and took shots away from the two guys who should be getting shots (Bosh and MoPete). I hate to see Charlie go, but there was a logjam at the 4.

Its a steal for the Raptors if Ford is really healthy. Calangelo is making the Phoenix north...and he just got one of the best passers out there. Its going to be fun to watch Bargnani, Bosh, and Ford running next year. He still has plenty of money to throw around to get a good backcourt mate for Ford that can score....Terry/Wells/Jones.
