Word out of South Florida is that ORT Vernon Carey might as well be using his playoff performance as an audition for clubs looking to sign an offensive tackle this offseason. Although loaded with talent, Carey hasn’t performed as consistently as the Fins would like, and they are leaning toward not re-signing the free-agent-to-be. He will, however, be in line for a hefty contract from somebody.

I am not surprised. Look for a RT to be drafted.
 
I knew this was coming Carey really at times this year looked awful. I also think Miami wants to get bigger and better along the line. We had no whole to run threw this year and that was with Smiley in there. In fact Miami best running came behind big Jake and the left side of the line.

They don't get much bigger than Carey. But, I too, have been disappointed in VC this season. I have always been one of his defenders, but now he doesn't seem irreplaceable. He doesn't seem to be progressing.
 
im sure he will catch on somewhere quick, he wont be a FA long at all.

and definately look for us to use our 2nd round pick on a new RT. if someone is worth it of course. i can see us spending money on a FA OL. Anyone know who is available?
 
I here everyone suggesting Satele will be starting at RG next year, but I kinda dont see it. At 6'3 and 300 punds I dont think Satele is the type of RG Miami wants. I think of Dallas' line in particular and I think Miami wants the same type of Moster line here. I could see us trying to get a G in the shape of Leonard Davis. I just dont picture Satele starting next year. I could see as a rotational Lineman that can play LG,C and RG along with Alleman and that would be tremendous depth at the OL position.

we could get somebody better but it won't be easy to get a bigger RT than Carey....lol

we'll get a RT...maybe Jordan Gross,or we'll draft one,but we'll get one...
 
I didn't say Carey was not big, I said Miami wanted to get Bigger Along the line. Especially at the G positions and C position.

Like I said Miami is not done along both lines. I think you can expect to see more attention towards the line again this year. To be honest I rather us sign Bell to a long term deal than Carey. I think Bell cannot be let go.
 
yeah i would let him go also you do not want to tie up too much money on the o line especially when we have holes elsewhere to fill. that money that crowder and carey would get we could give to maybe 3 or 4 players and will contribute right away.
