The Dolphins' rushing attack has not been effective in the preseason, but some on the team are `not concerned about it.'

Another year under offensive line coach Hudson Houck, another year of physical and NFL maturity for running back Ronnie Brown, another couple of free agents added and the Dolphins were supposed to have a potent ground game for the first time since 2002.

So far, they have been running in place. But they're not worried.

I agree completely. I'm not worried either as of right now. Offensive linemen take time to mesh together. They learn how to work together and eventually are all on the same page. I have faith in Houck and the members of the O-Line that they will provide great blocks for Ronnie.

It's all about the hogs up front. I think we have some real issues right now on the right side. Bennie Anderson has looked very suspect and Vernon Carey, is well Vernon Carey. Vernon just can't seem to play at a high level all the time like he potentially could. I wouldn't be opposed to a possible shift from Vernon to RG and McIntosh at RT. I don't know. I haven't really been concentrating on O-Line until the past Thursday.

Ronnie Brown, on talent alone, will amass 1100 yards rushing. Hopefully the line can open up some holes so that he could do much better than that. I don't want Culpepper to have to shoulder the load so much only being 10 months back from the injury. I think he looks great, but I don't want him having the pressure put on him like he did in Minny, where he had to make everything happen. We have enough playmakers on both sides of the ball around him so he shouldn't have to.

If the team isn't worried, I'm not worried. They stand to win or lose a helluva lot more than I do. This is their livelihood, for me it's only a passion. Well, maybe more than passion, but not life or death, well . . .

If the coaching staff is not worried about it, then I am not going to worry about it. Hopefully they are correct and the third and fourth quarters will belong to us. Lets see how it all plays out before anyone panics.

I think that the Fins will miss having Ricky and Ronnie as a tandem, and those fans who dismiss Ricky's absence are minimizing the impact of having two backs the caliber of Ricky and Ronnie. It changes the way that DCs game plan, and it opens up both the running and passing game, especially late in the game when alternating the backs wears down defenses. DCs had to plan for two different runners, either one of whom could break long runs and both capable of running for 4-6 yards at a pop. That was an awesome 1-2 punch, and trying to stop it often left the passing game wide open.

This season, the Fins have Ronnie -- and not much else. Sammy Morris, Travis Minor, et al are not going to scare many DCs, especially when Miami's oline is less than spectacular.

I'm confident that they'll get the ground game going.

I keep reading this, but there is more to it than just running yardage stats.

The Panthers have the best run Defense in the NFL probably. No team is going to look good running against that D front. It's just not going to happen.

I think the Dolphins looked VERY good in that game vs one of the top 2 NFC teams in the NFL. I was more impressed than I thought I'd be. (Except for our special teams)...

We looked much better than the Steelers did in their preseason game last week. I feel much better about our odds of winning that game now.

:dolphins:

well, ronnie now has his excuse built in for the year.

it will be ALL the offensive line fault.

ricky could get 1450 yds no prob behind this line WITH
benny anderson!!

well, at least we can finally throw the ball again if pre-
season means anything.....

i'm sick of talkin about preseason in the words of Allen Iverson "What are we talkin about? We're talkin about preseason. Preseason."

OK so the Dolphins looked like crap in pre season a couple of years ago and they killed with 4 wins. Did you see Sabans intensity? Do you think he doesn't care just because it's pre season?
