Saban Looking to upgrade Qb,OL,and DEF

Im listening to the Press Conference and Saban would like to upgrade the QB,OL,and make the defense younger.he is also talking about the Draft,I must say best Press Conference ever ,he is hitting all the points we have expressed need improvement....He says the salary cap is an issue and that there will be players cut....

Yea, I was about to start a thread about this exact same topic. I'm listening to the press conference as I am typing this post.

Anyway, he said QB, O-line, and getting younger on defense will be addressed. He mentioned that Miami had the oldest defense in the NFL.

Personally, I think our offensive line is horrendous and needs major improvements, and to hear him say "Offensive line will be addressed" made me extremely happy. I am so pumped up right now!

Listening to this press conference, I definitely feel like the Dolphins organization is in very good hands for once. Saban is the man!

Very deep class for O-lineman. I say we need to draft defense in the 1st, unless a QB falls to us that we feel will truely be the QB of the future. We can get a LB or possibly S in the middle of the first, that could step in and make an impact from day 1.

The Ol played decent this season, they were like # 3 in sack allowed and in between Ricky and Ronnie we rushed for well over 1,000 yrds, but what saban wants is to make the OL more dominating. Houck did one hell of a job with our OL, but with better players he can make SB O-line....

Wow, Saban has a sense of humor to boot, lol .... he's got the whole room cracking up!

My guess as possible 1st rounders: Manny Lawson-OLB, Marcus McNeil-T, Chad Greenway-OLB, LaRon Landry-S

I wonder what that means for guys like Carter, Holliday, Traylor, Madison, Shulters, T Buck and Seau.

I'm starting to think that Thomas, Taylor and possibly Shulters may be the only ones asked back (of the older players). Manny Wright may move to the starting lineup along with Roth opposite Taylor.

I credit intelligent and creative scheming, a veteran QB that knows when to get rid of the ball, and extra blockers staying in and helping the O-line for our statistical accomplishments.

This O-line is still one of the worst units in the NFL.

Carter is signed long-term. He will be back. Im not sure about the rest. Im thrilled to hear him say we have to improve at QB. That should be too hard considering we had the 30th QB out of 32. Like someone else said, if Cutler isnt there we should draft defence.

I wouldnt say one of the worst but its not top 10, I would say average which is one heck of an improvment from last year.

I disagree with you, even Saban himself said that the OLine had played well.We need better quality players at the position, but it wasnot the worst o-linein football, everyone has been raving about what job houck did.The need better oversll players but they were not a bad unit

I guess it's a matter of opinion. You think they are average, and I think they are absolutely awful. Whatever the case, Saban says he will attempt to upgrade to O-line, and that makes me very, very, very happy!

O-line and QB were 2 areas that have been extremely neglected for the past few years, and it was so refreshing to hear Saban say he will make a legitimate effort to upgrade these positions.

I still don't have a clue as to why so many people think our oline was terrible. It was average, simple as that. But consider that almost all sacks were caused by Gus rolling into the pressure or pump faking 2 times or not getting rid of the ball. So many people on here say that David Carr is at fault for his sacks, if that is the case Gus Frerotte is the primary reason for most sacks. Our oline could use improvements but it definatly is not terrible.

Carter should be back
Schulters, Daniels, Thomas, Crowder, Taylor, and maybe even Holliday and Jones will be back.

That only leaves 3 replacements for starters on the defensive side.

Phinsphan, I couldn't disagree more.

Gus Frerotte is a lot of things, but a QB who holds the ball too long and takes a million sacks he is not. If anything, he is too unwilling to take chances by waiting an extra second for the receivers to come open for fear of being sacked.

I've been saying for a long time now, that the reason our sacks were so low is because we kept TE's and RB's in to help and ran a of two and three man patterns. The OL has moved from #32 to the late 20's of OL, but that won't get us to where we want to be IMO.
