He said that Joey played well and he worked hard for 4 years in Detriot to do well. He said that he did'nt have alot of respect for the way the Lions organization treated him. He also said that Joey was a good leader.

Its good to see Saban stand up for his players.

Saban Criticizes the Detroit Organization

Saban takes up for Joey and criticizes the Detroit Organization for what they did to Joey during his four years in Detroit. Here is the Saban quote:

"Joey Harrington is really a good person and a smart guy and a good team guy and a good leader. And, I'm not being critical of any organization or any fans, but he worked hard for four years here (Detroit) to try to be successful and its a shame that people can't appreciate what he tried to do for this organization a little bit more than that. You know, to be honest with you, I do not have a lot of respect for what they did. He's been respectful to them, and he did a good job today. I told him. I said that if you do a good job today, they will cheer you. They will put all this behind you and it will be over and done." - Coach Saban

Saban was talking about the fans booing Joey at the beginning of the game, putting his picture on the Jumbotron and playing "Piano-man".

I thought that all was pretty classless too, but JH got the last laugh.

Sounds like to me that there are alot of pricks in the Lions organization. I dont see how they can hate Joey so much no better than the whole team has been. I dont see Kitna's record any better this year than Joeys while in Detroit.

You'd think that they would have realized it wasn't all Joey's fault LONG before they hit 2 and f**king 8!

Thanks Calvin, but that's not the quote I was referring to. It's this supposed quote by Dolfan 984 that I am asking a link for:

"With no disrespect toward quarterback Joey Harrington, Marty Booker, McMichael and Chambers all agreed that Culpepper will be their quarterback of the future.

"Definitely, there's no doubt in my mind," Chambers said."

no question...the comments are an indictment of the fans in attendance, present & past...the booing of Joey; the Lions allowing the playing of "Piano Man" to mock him (Joey) as he took the field...wonder what tune their playing now?

Something tells me Booker might have switched camps, McMichael is probably on the fence and Chambers is hardcore Culpepper still:lol:
