He'll make sure of it - once he gets a chance.
But coaches aren't about to unleash Schlesinger, one of the NFL's most bruising blockers out of the backfield, on the Dolphins' defenders during training camp.
"We're going to have to fit it in a few times, but we're not going to do 12 isolation blocks in a row," said Schlesinger, a 12-year veteran signed during the off-season from the Detroit Lions.
"We're not going to kill each other to death."
Running behind a retooled offensive line and without Schlesinger to escort him, tailback Ronnie Brown has looked a bit tentative and been pounded by Zach Thomas and Co.
"It's been pretty tough," Brown said. "They've done a real good job clogging stuff up."
Nicknamed "Anvil Head," the 6-foot-1, 246-pound Schlesinger has made a name by clearing out traffic for the running game. He was the lead blocker for Nebraska's 1994 national championship team and for Barry Sanders with the Lions.
