MERGED: Scott to miss season

They've made due with worse in the past, remember Artrell Hawkins started the majority of last season for them at safety and he is terrible, not to mention they've used WR's and converted LB's in their secondary the past few seasons. Definitely gives Samuel a little more leverage, but I don't necessarily think it means that the Patriots will give in to his demands.

Patriots Chad Scott out for the season?

I have been listening to the dolphins show on QAM and could have sworn I heard during the news segment that Chad Scott has blown out his Knee and is done for the season......put that with the Samuel contract dispute and could be trouble for the Patriot Defense cus Samuel said something about not playing til game 10.

I would be bummed... injuries suck... and ne went the the big dance with two rookie corners once didn't they... waaaay to early to think anything can hurt bill's defense.

Bill is overrated. He brought in all kinds of guys last year and they really were not that great if you look closely at them. They are getting older and banged up on defense. Peyton Manning and the Miami Dolphins have their number IMO. Tom Brady is BB's whole career highlight. That great move alone makes BB what he is. But lets face it. The D is getting older and banged up. Now Seyomore, Scott gone, Samuel holding out for a lifetime paycheck. Bruschis just the other day I heard the talk of retirement lurking in future years and Bruschi IMO has dropped off a little from 2 yeards ago that i can tell. I think NE is going to be a bit overrated but as long as Tommy Boy is around, the Pats will always be in it.

Bill Belichick has always gotten his average players to play like Champions. He's had guys playing both sides of the ball when injuries plagued the team. He gets more out his players than any other coach in football.

I never thought I would hear a Phin fan say any other team's Defense was getting older.

I'm thinking the Pats and Samuel will come to some agreement much like Lance Briggs and the Bears. Give him some money upfront and promise not to franchise him next year.
VT is right though, the Pats have made due with less. They still have a decent secondary with guys like Harrison, Hobbs, and the rookie Merriweather. I have a feeling that one way or another Samuel will be playing week one.

perhaps, but I'm thinking he would have found someone who would get the job done. And I have to agree with Brassmonki, Bill has done with less than anyone. "We" may have his number, but we aren't a threat to them taking the division.. or haven't been. Jason Taylor is in Brady's head, that's a LOT of it.

"Scott, 32, was placed on the reserve/injured list. The news came just hours after coach Bill Belichick continued to describe Scott's injury as day-to-day."

If Belichick were the Iraqi information minister, he'd probably describe Saddam Hussein's status for Sunday as "questionable (neck)."

Wweonly have 3 guys obver 30 on our D line
2 guys over 30 on our LB corps
and no one in our secondary is ancient.

Yeah we're old alright.

Sucks for them. Maybe all the experts won't be handing them the Lombardi trophy before the season even starts.
