Merged:Sign Troy Brown WR/CB!....honest look at Troy Brown

Hes not an upgrade over any CB we have...

If we want him for an extra WR fine, but if were signing him to play some CB its pointless.

as ive said in other posts, troy brown is about to be resigned by the pats, it will become official soon.....

hes going to sign for the vet min....

I think signing Brown would be a good idea...

Anyone remember Keith Byars? He went to NE and GAVE them our offense. They knew everything Marino was going to do...

Since NE isn't going to use an offensive coordinator, and are keeping the same playbook, why not use Brown to gain an advantage?

honest look at Troy brown...

what would he cost us. How old is he. how much is he getting paid. do we honestly need him

Brown as a 3rd or 4th Wr is ok, but not as a CB unless Saban is trying to save a roster space for another postion. I personally would like to see Boston come back on the cheap and compete for the 3rd wr spot with Thompson. I believe we have 2 good starters at wr and boston would add a little something extra at #3...or not...but if it's cheap then we loss nothing.

As for CB, Howard will be fine. It's our nickle and dime packages that might suffer. Trading David Bowens for someone like Curtis Deloatch from the NYG or Jerametrius Butler from StL (both teams need DE help/depth) would help for depth and in case madison or howard get hurt.

In all honestly i'm less worried about the CB position as I am about our FS spot (which also effects our nickle and dime packages). I think Jones will be a good, not great, SS but we honestly need help at FS. Noone we have is proven there. I'm holding out hope that Mitch Meeuwesen (sp?) shows he belongs at this level. He was fantastic in college but he had injury problems but he's got big talent. Same with Bell, too many injuries and unproven.

Of course, as others have stated, this is a "building" year. Not re-building though. I honestly look for a 8-8 or 9-7 season with the transition of staffs and systems. People were talking about us possibly winning the AFC when we signed Boston and still had Ricky on board so with the addition of Brown we could actually be pretty good. For me, anything less than 8-8 and I'm dissapointed but I'm realistic to a point and don't expect much more than that...besides I feel we play in THE toughest division in football..and that doesn't help. blah blah blah.....my point is that we need a FS more than a CB. :)

Hes gonna be 34 but he knows that Pats system and he would be great for our locker room!

He would be a nice signing if he came cheap!

:roflmao: keeping the same playbook? bill b is not a moron, hes only the best coach in NFL history and adding to it so if you think he will keep the same playbook you will be disappointed....

Yes to Troy Brown at WR, no to Troy Brown at CB unless another 2 CB's get hurt.
