why does everyone want to cut mare? tell me, who's better than him that will be available next year? he's one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history believe it or not.
 
I wouldnt want to cut Mare. He's missed a few easy ones this year but he's had a good career and been clutch,
 
I think it's just that when a kicker makes a mistake the world sees it. I agree though I think Mare has been very reliable for us
 
You think Bill Parcells wouldn't give up food for a year if he had the chance to pay Olindo Mare $2 million a year to be his kicker? He's gone through three kickers this year, who have missed 7 FG's inside 50 yards. He went cheap on a kicker and it's probably going to cost his team a playoff berth.

But its all predicated on cuting certain people as well as restructuring others. The guy with the best idea of what we will actually do is our GM. Mueller has said we will be in the somwhere in the 10-14 mill range if I remeber correctly. (Maby it was 10-12, I dont remeber for sure.) I tend to take him far more seriosly than these writers.

If Mare restructures, then I'm sure he'll be around. I don't remember many people liking cutting Turk for Saban's boy from LSU.. Donnie Jones, and since then Jones overall has been one of the leagues best already. So I guess it depends on who Saban would bring in to replace Mare that matters.

I do recall JJ trading Stoyo for Joe "I can't hit the broad side of a barn" Knedney in '96, and that easilly cost us 2 or 3 games. JJ was a dumbarse in more ways than I could possibly mention in one post.

Saban won't make that mistake.
