SBJ points out that Tagliabue could also be accepting a position with the Dolphins, which would most likely require him to give up his gig with the league office.

Tagliabue reportedly has been advising on an informal basis new team owner Stephen Ross, and Ross reportedly wants to hire Tagliabue to become the vice chairman of the team.

Cool Stuff. He turned the NFL in what it is today so bringing him in would really help this team.

yeah i posted this on another forum adn was beaten to it here. .. but it raises the question what will Bill parcells reaction to this be. .

As long as he stays out of the foootball side of things no problem but really it could be a case of too many chiefs at this rate. .

wow! parcells. tagliabue. haley aka the guy who bulit the 70s steelers. just bring in shula for advisory purposes and this franchise will NEVER become rudderless again.

Show Ross knows how surrond himself with the right people. I surprise no one has given credit to Ross for signing Carey. I mean we know the front office has to schedule the stuff, but if Ross doesnot ditch out the money Carey would have been gone.

I really don't think ross has any say so in who bill, ireland sign. He pretty much said he is staying out of that aspect of it. Though I could be wrong.

I hope that Tagliabue joins the Dolphins, too.. He is a good business man and imo was a great commissioner (was among the finalist for the HOF, I believe)..
But if you'd give credit to Ross for the Carey re-signing you should have credited Huizenga for all the good signings in his tenure as the Dolphins owner (he still is the co-owner, so 5% of the money Carey got are also his )

Agreed! This reflects positively on Ross's commitment to put a quality product on the field. (just so long as he doesn't trample on BP). Even more than that, I'm sure Tagliabue does not come cheaply, so despite the recession and his RE assets deflating, between the Carey signing and this possibility, the aura around Ross is starting to look more encouraging.

I recognize everything Wayne H did for this organization. Unfortunately the signing of Parcells was his last I think he was good owner. As for Tagliabue Im sure he would come in for Club matters. Big Tuna is player personnel so i dont se how one would contradict the other.

5%.. theres no way huizenga paid any money to Vernon, this is the Dolphins you know Ross wouldnt of bought a team tthat was losing money, huizenga is still getting paid! i just hope bringing in Tagliabue doesnt ruffle any feathers with bill or ireland and they both want to stay

I don't think the possibility of Tagliabue joining the Dolphins is going to have any impact on Parcells. He is likely just coming in to run the business side of the team(Stadium, promotions, merchandise, etc.).

ooh.. So hes Going to Raise prices.. WHAT A ****ING A**HOLE:(

What J. Tagliabue has done for the NFL in his time as president/chairman is quite exceptional. Much of the foundation today is due to partial Tagliabue which has raised an International League with fans from around the world and formularized a league with the most money in circulation in sports today, I guess.

He will be a fantastic personality to have on this team in one way or another.

I would like to welcome him with big arms!:woot::chuckle:
