The good, bad and ugly

Good:

David Boston, FINALLY!
Diamond, WHO??
QBs, I don't think there was a pick till the end of the game. Could be wrong on that one.
Daniels, some nice plays in tight coverage.
Martin, nice blocking
Morris, best RB of the night
Defense in first half, except Howard!

Bad:

Ricky, I'll call it rust
Howard, he got schooled by Muhammad
Madison, blew right by on that blitz
Thompson, why is this dude on the team??

Ugly:

Donald Lee, worthless
O line, how many penalties did they end up with ? 9 ?
Manny Wright, he got owned

Overall not a bad night. I"ll be interested to see a real gameplan executed. I liked the blitzing, haven't seen that for a few years!

Players that impressed and players that depressed.

I know it's only the 1st pre-season game so I'm not going to make much of this game. The whole time, I was just looking at the individual players to see how they would do. I realize that a lot of these guys were playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers so I am not saying that any of these guys should be starting/make the team. Here is what I came up with in no particular order

Impressed:

1. Sage Rosenfels/Brock Berlin/Gus Frerotte

2. Brian Gilmore

3. David Boston

4. Jason Glenn

5. Lorenzo Diamond

Depressed:

1. Manny Wright

2. Matt Roth (due to his being overhyped. He's got a great motor but he was pretty much handled all game. Was not a factor on the DL at all).

3. OL especially the 1st team

4. RB's minus Sammy Morris (probably due to #3)

5. Most of the Defensive Secondary.

Howard got schooled by EVRYONE!

Another one I thought was terrible was Hadnot.... consistenly being pushed into the backfield.

You know who really surprised me last night? (besides all the usual suspects)....Kevin Vickerson. I don't think he registered a tackle, but I was very impressed with what I saw from him. He was EXPLOSIVE off the snap and was in the backfield in the matter of a second, putting some pressure on.

Wright as Madden said, has no motor, he needs to step it up or we wasted a # 5.

Dude you have got to change your race for the 1st QB board after last night. Feely has no vision or instincts for the game of football. He might be a preety good arena leauge QB but just has no place starting in the NFL. Anyone who thinks differently is in denial.....serious denial. And yea Houck has definetly got his work cut out for him.O-line was just terrible!!! No improvment from last year what so ever. Carey looked like a fat slow slob out there last night, no real improvment over Mcintosh. Lets hope some drastic improvments are made in the next month:rolleyes: !!!

Wow, talk about overreacting

True, Feeley displayed his same tendancies to lock on to to the receiver, but he also made some very nice plays. I didn't find Gus' performance to be stellar either, but I have to say that both QB's made some solid throws. Niether of these guys are world beaters, but this wasn't exactly a practiced out fully game planned contest, either. You ranted about the OL also, but then leave them out of the equation when evaluating the QB position making you appear less than knowledgable about the game. AJ and Gus were both sacked last night and severely pressured on almost every play...I think some patience is in order here.

While the OL did look quite poor last night, I don't think it is fair to say there was no improvement from last season since the lineup was different and it is the earliest pre-season game. If there is no improvement by the 3rd pre-season game, then it will be time to start panicing a little.

That Manny Wright is the most worthless football player that I have seen in my entore life. He was completely worthless. Unless he turns it around in a hurry, he is SO GONE. I mean, it looked like he was dancing with the d line. He gave up on every play and he was exhausted. BWAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

I really think Spragan did a great job. He was there on most tackles, defended a pass (I think it was him), I was impressed.

Anybody else really happy w/ Spragan, he was everywhere, I mean everywhere, hit good, wrapped good, and tackled good, I was really impressed w/ him.

<-- He impressed me. The thing I liked about Gus was his honesty and how bad things just don't seem to follow him around. He got hit, he made a throw that acidently ended up getting us 6 points. while AJ makes mistakes that give the other team 6, not last night but it seems like its just differnt kind of poise out on the field.

Wes Welker has great cuts, i see him breaking a few this year again!!!! was SEVERLY dissapointed by the o-line but this game meant nothing. I liked the different looks from the def but will take some time to really get that flow going. I LOVED not seeing the coach with his hands in his hair. I liked the play calling although we have to get the run going (see o-line) I want to see the changes they put in place for this weekend vs Jacksonville. This game was just a benchmark to be measured against. I think if the people that did good keep it up then they will make the team while those who falter may need to step it up to stand a chance!!!
