Do you think we would make a push at Jake Grove form Oakland?

He is only 29 years old and will probably come pretty cheap compared to Brown which could possibly allow for another decent free agent signing whether it be CB or WR. Thoughts?

Jake Grove

what is the scoop on this guy?

Yahoo sports has him rated as a top FA and a possibility because Brown wants to be the highest paid C/G in the NFL

if we drop out of the Brown race, hopefully we have another player targetted(Greer or McFadden)

Merged: Jake Grove Visits with Miami.

The Miami Dolphins might have decided not to get into a heavy bidding war for the services of center Jason Brown, but that doesn't mean they won't still address the position through free agency beyond the signing of inexperienced lineman Joe Berger.

Oakland Raiders center Jake Grove, a five-year veteran who started eight games for Oakland this year, traveled to South Florida for a visit today, an NFL source said. He is expected to reach a deal shortly, becoming only the second signing since free agency began.

Grove, at 6-4 and 300 pounds, would be in competition with Samson Satele for the starting center job.

The Dolphins have been searching for a potential player to give Satele competition for the job after a season in which Satele struggled to compete with the nose tackles in the AFC East.

Jake Grove takes free agent visit to Miami

"We want him back, obviously," Raiders coach Tom Cable said Feb. 19 when asked if he was comfortable with the player's status. "So if he's not there or until it's resolved I'm not comfortable at all."

Cable's discomfort could grow substantially in the next 24 hours.

If the Dolphins are able to sign the 6-4 and 300 pound Grove, consider him your starting center for the 2009 season.

Doesn't he have his # retired at VT? One of the dirtiest players ever up there.

I remember when he was coming out of college a lot of ppl on this board wanted him bad..

Groves is a good center. He may not have the strength the Trifecta is looking for, but his technique is solid. Wouldn't mind giving him a look. Don't forget about Al Johnson. With all the talk about Satele and the Centers in the draft, I think he gets lost in the discussion.

Jake Grove to Visit

The Miami Herald is reporting that Jake Grove will come in for a visit. This guy is a beast at Center. A 2nd Round pick in 2004 who plays with a mean streak. I love this guy. Fills a major need.

I thought we were going to sign a center who was a lot bigger then Satele??!!! Grove is 6'4" 300 and Satele is 6'3" 300. I guess because Grove is an inch taller he's considered a lot bigger. I don't get the signing.

well if Cable is afraid of losing him that says something. That team is in desperation mode.
