Merged: Trent Green "the Mentor"

I have not been the biggest Trent Green fan. Solid but not great. But after reading this article I am convinced Miami did the right thing by bringing him here. Sounds like he will be able to speed up the learning process for Beck.

Good point, and I'd add that with all the new faces on offense and Green's familiarity with the system... he'll be providing a mentoring benefit to Ginn and Booker as well.

Thanks for the link man. John strikes me as the guy who would go about this whole process the right way. I'm positive he understands that he has to wait his turn and make sure that he's 100% ready when he steps on the field. I just hope he applies everything that happens with him and the things he sees to the entire learning experiance. Every second he's on the practice field he should be learning and getting better.

The plan is coming together. Finally i feel good about the future of the Fins and i love the way Cam thinks. It's not just about big name players with humongous egos that are all about themselves and not the team. He's about confident character players with values on and off the field. In my view this is the best draft in many years and problably the best Coach sinse Shula. I'M EXITED! i love this SH*T:rocker: GO FINS!

I remember Trent Green during a recent taped interview saying that he didn't want to be a mentor, or that it wasn't his job to do that. Something to that regard anyway. He then went on to say that Beck should just watch how a veteran ProBowl QB trains, prepares for games, and conducts himself on and off the field ect.... Some may argue that it's pretty much the same thing, but Green obviously doesn't.

No one would admit to being a teacher/mentor for their eventual replacement. Green came to Miami to be the QB and hopefully win games. But it would be ridiculous to think that Green wouldn't be sharing tips with Beck about the offense and just life on and off the field in general.

I agree. He did say that he would gladly share info and answer questions, but he didn't like the whole "mentoring" thing when asked about it.

AWESOME!!!

Visual mentoring is a huge thing also. Alot of times Green won't necessarily need to speak to Beck about certain things. Beck will be able to see the way they're done.

I said this before, we are set at QB for the next10-12 yrs.

I feel pretty good about it too... And trust me, the last 5 years or so have taught me to be very skeptical when it comes to the Fins. But I like what I see and hear so far with Cam at the helm!
