2. The Dolphins draft board is set. It was set last week. That means the Dolphins already know who they are going to draft if they cannot trade out of that No. 1 overall pick. They desperately want to trade out of that pick. By the way, don't ask me who they would pick because I've asked and the person I asked laughed at me.

Something interesting to start the new week with.
1. The Dolphins definitely have plans for John Beck. When coach Tony Sparano talks with his coaches and confidants about Miami's need to get leadership from younger players, he mentions the second-year quarterback. Sparano thinks great teams are ones with leaders that are in their third, fourth and fifth seasons -- guys in their prime. Sparano has been mentioning Ronnie Brown, Ted Ginn Jr. and Beck as guys that will be the nucleus of the team in the next couple of years. So don't write the QB off.

We'll probably hear soon about comp. picks, they usually announce them at the meetings. From what I hear we get a 6th and 7th this year, just waiting for it to become official.
 
I like that Ireland values production on the field.... can be too easy to get caught up with how fast an athlete runs and performs in the combine.

tahts why cason is on their radar. might not have that amazing 40 but def performs on teh field.
 
Glad to see we dont give up on Beck.Remember Drew Brees wasent that good his first few years.They drafted Rivers to replace him before he lit it up.The first time Chris Long sacks Tom Brady we will all be happy!!
 
You have two kinds of speed. You have 40 yard dash speed, and you have game speed. Some players are just not as fast in the 40 as they are on the field. That's why getting too caught up in the combine and over-anaylizing a player can be dangerous. I think game play is the most important factor on how a player will do in the NFL.

FINFAN53: actually, the point made in the blog was that yes, ireland likes production,
and doesnt take 40 times and such over what a player does on the field, he went on to
say that irland metioned he doesnt believe in filing "needs" early, that BEST GRADED PLAYER on the board [aka best player in the draft] comes first early on.

so, think there is NO WAY IN HELL darren mcfadden may be the pic?

parcells himself said as much when he was still an anouncer on tv, months before
the dolphin job was on the table, he said early on, you take the BEST PLAYER!!
its a talent acuisition buisness and you have to bring in TALENT!

i dont think a lot of people are going to be happy come draft day. i think the TRIFECTA
is going to send up a card that NO ONE saw coming.

You know it's funny, this whole time everybody has been talking about Chris Long, or Jake Long, or Matt Ryan, or Vernon Gholston it has been in the back of my mind that Mcfadden could still be the pick. Now I still don't really think it's gonna happen, but I wouldn't completely rule it out either. IF their philosophy is truly to take the best player available reguardless of need, and that you have to take the best talent then Mcfadden has to be the pick. BTW....... I'm still on the draft Jake Long bandwagon!!!
