MERGED: Vikes may be trying to move up.

Speilman must be running the Viking draft. You don't have Moss so now everyone knows you're desperate for a WR so you overpay to get in position to pick a replacement WR. If that doesn't have the stench of Rick Speilman, what does?

Come to think of it, if he's running the Minnesota draft maybe he can give us back the 4th they stole from him last year. Taylor Whitley cost a 3rd. I'd be willing to surrender him for a lowly 4th.

I think Saban wants TB to trade up 3 spots for Smith, which then might cause a DOMINO effect making Minnesotta trade up with the Fins new #5 pick and giving us their #7. Remember the Vikings got rid of Moss to get that #7 and take one of the big 2 WR's.....well as time went on Braylon and Mike have been moving up the draft boards and neither of them might get past #6 to the Titans. Hopefully we make everyone in the top 10 nervous and we use it to our advantage. At #7 we can still find one of the 3 RB's, maybe a top WR,Possibly The BEST Defensive player, or worst case scenario the best OL on the board. That doesn't seem so bad, right?
Hey, remember that the Vikings these past two years have been the joke of the draft. Remember that they were LATE turning in the name of the player they want for 2 straight years, making them move further down in the draft. They can easily get Nervous that one of the big 2 WR's will fall off the board before either of them gets to #7. The Vikings NEED a WR, and if we end up with that 5th pick and there's only one WR left MINNY will need to pull the trigger.
I dont have a problem with #7....as long as we're in the top 10 we're good. And don't forget all the 2nd rounders and 3rd rounders we've accumulated if we do those trades with TB and Minny.

BUT IF WE DO PICK AT # 2 OVERALL........

Since PFT and another site I have never heard of until today are reporting it it must be true :shakeno:

Actually the site that posted it first was next level scouting...thru NFL draft scout. They are one of the top scouting business's in the country...and included Rob Rang, Dave Te, John Murphy and run by Frank Cooney. They are endorsed by Marino, Peter King, John Madden, Chris Berman, Bill Walsh and Howie Long...to name a few. If they report it...it's more than a rumor.

You'll see the headline on the front page...but since you have to pay to enter...feel free....it's worth the price.

Thanks for the Link. I will pass on paying for a subscription though. I Still think the rumor is pure BS until I see it mentioned by a major news outlet.

Keep watching....personally to me it makes sense...the vikes need a go to receiver since they lost Moss....and Edwards seems to fit the bill. The Vikes have the picks and the cap space....plus they have more picks to fall back on.
I say let them take Edwards...it's only good for us...I like Clayton as a receiver anyway....and believe he'll be the best of the lot for years to come...he reminds me alot of Marvin Harrison...and what team wouldn't want him.

I like this part:

The Dolphins want to move out of this pick, and are visiting with dozens of player to create interest in the pick. They’ll likely be forced to stay, however. This is a considerably better team than the others in the top four and Brown’s rookie impact could propel them back into the playoff hunt quickly.

I do too....If you look at the scores...for the most part the Dolphins were in most games....with a better O-line, some decent weapons...those scores very well could have been in our favor. I just think Saban isn't really showing his hand...yet. I don't fall for the Brown and QB thing...I think it's all hype and smoke to get other teams to trade up....and it appears it's working.

When Saban was with Cleveland...there's a couple times they traded up to get players they felt were what the team needed....so I believe Saban could very well do the same if the Surtain trade happens and he trades out of the 2nd pick and acquires more picks....don't be surprised if feels he can get a special player in the later part of the first round...that he doesn't trade up to get him.
With all the unknowns in this draft...until they settle out...it's impossible to predict who the Dolphins will select...but watch these three players...Spears, Merriman and Clayton...perhaps if everything falls in the right place...two of them could be Dolphins. Just too many options at running back and QB to draft them early...so I'm looking at sure thing players...players who will play right out of the gate. Those three are sure thing players.

Why wouldnt the Vikes try to trade with us instead?

because they have been hearing that st.nick might be drafting brylan at the #2 pick thats all i can figure out

FWIW

From Minneapolis Star Tribune

....Trade up

Braylon Edwards is the best candidate to replace Randy Moss. But don't expect the Vikings to reach for him or any other player. "The likelihood of us moving up is probably very remote," Scott Studwell said. "But never say never."

Trade down

There's a better chance the Vikings will trade down, assuming they can find a buyer. After all, why stay at No. 7 and pay a bonus of about $12 million when trading down will net more picks, smaller signing bonuses and fill areas of need?
