Lex looks good. I'd hate to lose him on the practice squad. What if we tried to keep him on as our backup FB. I know alot of his time has been spent against 2nd team defenses but he is averaging over 5.2 per carry.

Stats pre-season game 1
Rush 9/42 - 4.66 YPC

Stats pre-season game 2
Rush 9/52 yards TD - 5.77 YPC
Receiving 2/11 yards

we need to find a way to keep this guy on the team. he is good. ricky can't have too many years left. we are going to need this guy.

Last year I was more worried to lose Parmalee than Hilliard, then we lose him the the ravens. I dont want to lose Hilliard this year, he could be kept for when Ricky is gone...

It is highly unlikely that we carry two fullbacks. I think the best thing we can hope for is that someone wants to trade for Lex.

Just saw his post game interview. He seems like a really solid player giving it up to the offensive line and saying how much ronnie, ricky and patrick have helped him so far.

I like this guy alot!

I think if we let lex go he wont make it to the PS. We need to find a way to keep him.
Cobbs will make it over him. Cobbs is a better back and all over for the wildcat on teh reciving end.

Eh, it seems likely that we will lose another talented back. It's starting to sting after Booker and Parmele...

Let Hillard and Cobbs battle it out the next two games. We know Ricky and Ronnie are ready. Play them for only two series maybe 3. Then give Cobbs and Hilliard the bulk. See who is better.

I think Cobbs wins that battle.

Hilliard may be as effective running, but he's almost certainly not the receiver, blocker or special teamer that Cobbs is.

Cobbs is a lock in my books. He's the type of player championship teams need. It's no surprise that Kevin Faulk is a 3rd stringer yet has been with the Pats for ten years. Cobbs is a Faulk clone.

Cobbs is going nowhere. he's a lock to make the team. Hilliard will have to just keep running hard and hoping he makes the roster. I think he can be a good FB for us, and I'm not sold on Polite.

If there's one guy Cobbs reminds me of, it's Kevin Faulk. I'd really like to see him get alot of snaps as a 3rd down RB this season. I like what he brings to the passing game out of the backfield.

Cobbs is the a special team leader (I think even a captain) and Tony raves about him, so he ain't going anywhere

The solution is simple and has already been aluded too. Lex takes ricky's spot on the roster, it is that simple. There is no way you can let ronnie, cobbs or polite go, there is a roster spot for 1 more. We are already considering keeping an extra WR so I can't imagine keeping an extra RB too. Lex is a Bill Parcells guy, and if he shines in the next preseason game too? Previous regimes would easily make the mistake of keeping the name over the smart football decision. Maybe the truth is I just don't like ricky. I will get slammed for this but I just don't think he is a winner. I think his "intangables" on and off the field suck. His off field personal issues with pot and mental health are well documented. On the field it is much harder to determine if he is playing well or not. Now if you go back to before he quit on his teammates he was dominent at times, but that was quite a few years ago. Now I see a guy get tackled on first contact almost all the time. Ricky did make some plays last year but the play that matters to me the most was that dropped pass vs the jets for the division title. That play to me was the icing on the ricky cake. He finally had a chance to shut everyone up if he makes that play, BUT HE DIDN"T MAKE IT! I honsetly see little to no value for him to be on the roster. Have Pat White run in motion instead of ricky in the wildcat to take advantage of his outside running/speed with a threat to pass.
