Hey guys! Just wondering why would Brees choose NO over Miami? I know that it hasn't happened yet but do y'all get a bad feeling about this? I mean why would a pro-bowl caliber QB go from a contenderteam like SD to a pretender team like NO? Thoughts?

That is the only reason, he has stated the he wants to play on grass, out doors and play somewhere warm. My gut tells me that he is only going to NO to drive up Miami's offer. Honestly think he ends up a Dolphin. Doesn't hurt that Miami has Houke as it's Oline coach that also coached in San Diego when Brees started to take off. Everything points to Miami.

do yall really have to keep asking this question? money. just like all other free agents.

I agree about the money. But wouldn't you think that going to a real play-off contender would be at least a consideration in the eyes of Brees?

I haven't been on in 2 days. That's why I am asking. If you don't like the question then don't reply. It is as simple as your answer.

Keep in mind that the players agent just cares about money, and may set up meetings with teams that the player doesn't neccessarily want to play for.

And, of course, they want us to up the ante...

Why?? This is why:

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Everyone is convinced NO is some kind of hell hole. Well, if Brees plays there he will be able to find a nice place to live despite Katrina, don't worry, and he'll only be there during football season. They have talent on offense, and a new coaching regime off the Parcells tree. Stop thinking they are the dregs of the league, and Miami is some kind of Eden. Yes, Miami is an attractive franchise right now, but far from the only one.

It has also been mentioned that a player, especially a QB, would like to think that he could come into a city like NO and turn the team arround and basically be the face of the team. Be their saviour, and if he gets paid alot of $$ while doing it, all the better for him.

I really wonder if the league hasn't played some role in encouraging the most sought after free agent to show some interest in NO. They need the press and they need to show their fans and other potential FA's that they are commited to winning. If you were FA why would you even consider going to NO? I mean a torn apart city, Tom Benson and a perenially losing team?
Thats why guys like Bently hit the road.

Money is the overriding concern. The turf issue should really figure prominently, especially since he's coming off an injury.

Since warmth is an issue for him, I wonder if atmosphere is also. He's reputed to be a partier. Choosing between New Orleans and Miami depends on what kind of partier he is. Miami is a snootier city than New Orleans. Since he'll be raking in big money he'll be able to hob-nob with the jet-set, that's Miami. If he prefers the kind of city where you talk to people in bars that you don't know, then it's not Miami, it's New Orleans.
