MERGED: WR Tab Perry signed

Connection with former UCLA coach Karl Dorrell, our WR coach now. Perry was a decent #4 option in Cincy and can play the slot if needed; but I think this is a special teams signing. Perhaps as a replacement for Jesse Chatman as the up-man on kickoffs leading the way for Ginn?

i'm not familiar with him.....is this a good signing for us or mainly for depth?

My god someone's head better role if they don't get a top 5 special teams out of this.

At least now when they squib it away from Ginn we won't have a LB or DE trying to figure out wtf to do with the ball.

That is 8 Special Teamers signed this offseason. I hope a couple of these guys can play something other than special teams!

thats good another Special teamer the dolphins have been Focusing on the ST alot latly

If he can stay healthy, a 6'3" 208lb. #4 Wr isn't a terrible pet to have. He's got decent hands, just couldn't ever stay healthy in Cincy.

Not a bad pick up for 1 year and less than a million, lets see what type of player he is.

Maybe Karl Dorrell knows something about this kid.

He has the size but needs to stay healthy.

Our special teams were horrid last season. Field position plays a huge part in the outcome of games. I have no problem with them making the Special teams extremely strong in the free agency period and building the Offense and Defense mainly through the draft.

Also, while a lot of the guys we have signed recently are best on Special Teams, a lot of them fill depth positions.

As for Perry, don't be surprised if he takes over punt return duties full time. I see Ginn only being on special teams for kickoff returns as he concentrates most of his energy being the #1 WR.

if he can stay healthy this guy has skills... The only reason he was at #4 is because of who 1,2,3 are... He has the skill set to become a starter. This is, or could be, for much more than special teams.

Perry's a little more than special teams, I think. Not necessarily a future starter, but someone who you can expect to catch more than a few token balls per game. For awhile at UCLA, this guy was downright unstoppable. He's got the speed and the size to make an impact at the #4 receiver spot. And no, that's not a big position, but it's not a neglible one either.
