DOLPHINS, HENNE AGREE TO TERMS
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 26, 2008, 3:03 p.m. EDT
The Dolphins opened training camp this morning with one player missing, as second-round quarterback Chad Henne hadn’t yet signed.
But Henne’s holdout didn’t last long. Henne has signed a four-year, $3.5 million contract with $1.5 million guaranteed today, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting.
At Michigan, Henne started 47 games and finished as the Wolverines’ career leader, with 828 completions, 1,387 attempts, 9,715 yards, 87 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.
Henne will get a short to start as a rookie, although he’ll enter training camp behind veterans Josh McCown and John Beck on the quarterback depth chart. McCown and Beck split reps with the first team at this morning’s practice, and McCown showed no ill effects of the recent injury to his throwing hand suffered in a chain saw accident.
