MergedX2:No MVP for Pennington

I think that's fair. Manning is the Colts, but that was moreso true this year than it probably has been in a while.

For Pennington to be nominated is pretty amazing. When was the last time we even had a candidate for MVP that came that close?

I like the Michael Turner nomination as well. People talk about Matt Ryan, who deserves his credit, but...nothing happens without MT in the backfield.

Popularity vote still rules any poll. Unfortunately, our QB isn't ranked high in that department.

Hey 2nd In The Mvp Race Not Bad At All. Actually Is A Great Thing And A Great Upgrade Fromt He Other Qbs We Have Had In Recent Memory (post Marino.!)

Yep, Manning was the better candidate. He probably had his worst performing supporting cast this year than he's had since 2001 and still helped them reel off a 9 game winning streak. Unlike Colt teams in past years (like 2005) that you could make an argument might be competitive with a ball control offense if Manning weren't around...this team wasn't going anywhere.

Pennington was a large part of the reason for Miami's transformation, but not to as large a degree. For one, introducing schemes that worked to Miami's strengths had a lot to do with it. Miami's season essentially began the moment the Wildcat was introduced. What that play did was get Miami confidence in themselves to where they suddenly believed in their base offense as well.

And let's not forget Jake Long...or the long list of other contributors this year. Miami's list of game-changing contributors probably goes around the block this year. I don't think you can say that about Manning - Marvin Harrison had an abysmal season, and they couldn't run the football at all.

Manning wins the MVP on an offensive team with alot more weapons... He was 3-4 and finished 12-4 that went to the playoffs last year while Pennington went to a 1-15 team with less weapons and finished 11-5... Don't make sense... Not well deserved... Popularity Contest....

I hate this early selection of these awards. What if Manning chokes and Chad takes us and wins the SB? They should do all this after the season has ended

its a regular season award. What would be the point of Super Bowl MVP otherwise?

Peytons won MVP 3 times, but only super bowl MVP once. Go ahead and guess which feat he's more proud of.

Terrible run defense+terrible running game=increased chance of "choking"

BTW, they do have a Superbowl MVP.

The MVP award is just a regular season award.

MAKES SENSE PICK THE WINNER AFTER THE SEASONE ENDS? NOT TO BAD OF AN IDEA.
