According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Dolphins VP of Football Operations Bill Parcells is telling those close to him that he would consider coaching again if the right situation comes about.

Parcells has an out in his contract if Wayne Huizenga sells the Fins to current minority owner Stephen Ross. ESPN reported Sunday that Parcells might jump to another team as GM, but the Star-Ledger says the Tuna would be interested in coaching the talent he evaluates. Any team pursuing Parcells would obviously have to realize he's a short-term solution. If Parcells does return to the sidelines, the Jets would appear to be his best fit.

Just when we've achieved a euphoric level not experienced since 2000, we've now gotta contend with all the suspiciously-timed media buzz kill?

I forkin hate this chit!!!

Everything I've read says that Parcells wants nothing to do with coaching again. Apparently he even battled with an illness earlier this season.

I don't think he would return to coaching. Why would he give up all the money and power he has here to return to the hetic day to day life of a head coach. He is King right now in Miami, doesn't have long work days and doesn't have to attend road games. I think this is just him trying to assert himself to Ross that he is a very improtant person. A slight pay raise would likely keep him around.

The ego is an unfortunate but expected consequence of success.

Didn't I read somewhere a while back that Mrs. Tuna wanted him staying home? I agree with you guys, Ross needs to dish out a little more cash and reward BP for making his franchize a winner again in very short order.

I don't think its a money thing. Tuna has more then enough cash to live out his life in style. I think this is Tuna's way of telling Ross to remain out of his hair.

My honest opinion on all of this is that Parcells can keep the job if he wants too. I honestly don't see a problem leaving now that he has build an executive foundation. I see him taking the 12 million payout and signing up to rebuild another franchise. Sparano and Ireland aren't going anywhere....but we might lose some assistant coaches here and there unless we decline permission to interview. Other then that I don't see him wanting to leave...two things will come out of this Bill gets a raise or Bill opts out takes the money and takes an open job.

as long as sparano and irleand are around for many years I am fine with Bill leaving if he wants.

I want to believe that he will stay around for another year or 2 but with all the smoke going around there has to be some fire. Even Dick V mentioned this this morning on Mike and Mike.
I don't know. just when we get things right there is always something to screw it up. Maybe this was Wayne H and Parcells plan all along thats why he built the clasue in the contract.

hypythons you nailed it IMO. Only thing I would be worried about is if he decides to pilfer the front office (namely Ireland)
