not that i don't appreciate the contributions of the wr corp this year, but i think most of us would have to agree that as a unit, it could use some help. the draft certainly has some intriguing picks, but who is out there as a possible UFA or RFA that might help us? i don't want to talk about trading for guys, because that assumes that someone like boldin will be available in a trade. he may or may not be. i have some ideas, but i'd like to hear some others.

It is pretty thin . . . I think Greg Camarillo was a top 5 guy, and we locked him up already, tho he got hurt.

I know TJ and Antonio Bryant are 2 names that come to mind . . . TJ is gonna be wayy to costly and Bryant has been up and down his whole life.

Not much there tho, Devery Henderson . . . blah, I mean I would hold off on WR one more year . . . and then next year in the draft u got A. Benn from Illinois and Dez Bryant at Ok State. Brandon Tate from UNC . . . u got some studs for 2010 draft . . . by then, our team should be fully built and we can go after the skill position players.

we have Cammarillo back and you can bet we will make a splash for another top tier reciever :)

cammarillo has performed very admirably but i think a lot of his catches/yards come by default. even if he's ready for TC, which he may not be, i think we need to do better.

I absolutely love Dez Bryant but I doubt we would draft him next year even if we had a top 10 pick

I like the Torry Holt for a 4th idea the most. Boldin will require way too many picks, Housh will cost too much $, and the rest of the free agents don't seem to be a massive upgrade. Holt fits what this group needs and is a bonafide hall of famer with no strings attached.

Camarillo was nice but top 5? Here in NY a caller called into a radio station lamenting the loss of Camarillo and he got laughed off of the phone by the host. It's not exactly like the Giants losing Plaxico was the theme of the call.

when has BP emphasized WRs? He has never WILLINGLY invested much on the position by way of FA or the draft(Coles in the 2nd I believe was the highest investment). I don't expect this team to make a FA splash or use a #1 on a WR for the foreseeable future.

forget the trades, we can't rely on trades. what about these names: miles austin, DAL and lance moore, NO. both are RFA's, which mean their respective teams can put a high-tender on them but can't completely limit their opportunity to leave.

Well, the first question is which WR on our current roster are you going to replace and/or limit playing time:

We're going to assume Wilford is out, but that leaves Ginn, Bess, Cam, and London. We usually dress 4 for a game anyways. So one of those guys is going to have severely reduced playing time.

I think bringing a guy like Holt in is the best gameplan for next season (I realize that's a trade, but whatever). He, along with Penny, will help us mentor and get the most out of this young receiving corps and see what we really have. Then in the following offseason, if we feel we need to, we'll pursue Boldin or try to draft a stud like Bryant.

So you're saying no to trades but you're will to pay a 2nd for Lance Moore or Miles Austin?

I think a fifth WR will be adressed late in the Draft. If you're having dreams about TJ or any other high priced FA WR, then I suggest you wake up. It ain't gonna happen.
