After watching this team week after week it is clear we need to get a number 1 reciever. Case in point...The Randy Moss TD. The Dolphins had just put together a nice 10 minute drive, score a TD to put us on top. Then what do the Pats do?? They go right down the field utilizing their superstar/#1 WR. The Pats draw up a beutiful play clearing it out for Moss 1-on-1 and score on a long TD and never look back.

We put Ginn out there, draw up a nice play, Henne delievers a strike, Ginn cant hold on. Game Over.

I think it is essential we draft a QB early. A guy with size and speed, who can develope into Henne's #1. But on top of that I think we need to bring in someone who can help these young guys learn the ropes. From the route running, the "legal" push off/separation. A guy who is not afraid to go over the middle. I like Hartline, Camarillo, and Bess, but we need more from the WR position. I think a FA and an early draft pick must be used on a WR to get this thing going in the right direction.

PS. Post #1800, god I love FH!

WR Arelious Benn, Illinois. 6'2" 215. Great speed, agility and thoughness. This is our guy.

But the thing is, we need to bring in someone, so Benn isnt expected to be "the guy" from day one. We need to give him some time to develope. That will be key. IMO

We need someone who can catch.

Henne has been putting throws right on the money

I think Henne could really take advantage of a stud WR if we get better pass protection.

I think we made a mistake not signing Torry Holt this offseason

sounds to me miami needs help on defense, more than WR. Miami has been up on the colts, up on the saints, up on the pats, but the defense fails. i don't know why everyone keeps making these stupid WR threads. everyone know's miami doesn't have any WR's, but they are consistantly able to score, and be ahead of their opponent. How is a #1 WR going to help miami? So miami will be able to score in 2 minutes, the other team will come right back and score in 1.

totally agree. neither henne nor the dolphins can wait for a rookie receiver to develop. drafting a receiver early is a given, but picking up a FA in the off season is a must.

One problem here is due to our lack of receiver we aren't able to score quick consistently.

you don't get it. that has nothing to do with the defense. miami is able to score without a #1. not just score, but be AHEAD. What does the defense do? they lay down and allow teams to score at will. If they can play just average defense, the offense wouldn't be in a position to score in the last 2 minutes in every game.

Granted, i realize it would be nice to be able to win all our games with no defense and with a #1 WR, but it's just not going to happen.

Defense should be #1 priority for the rest of this season and the offseason.

It's a shame there wasn't a former Miami Dolphin that we could have picked up a week ago. I could be wrong but he had a pretty damn good game yesterday, didn't he?

Sign Floyd, draft Benn, and I think you'd be set at the WR position for the next 10 years.

BTW, to the OP...congrats on hitting 1800!

NO I do get it and very much so! We still need a real number 1 receiver. I am on record saying draft defense, but we still need to pick up a real number 1 receiver in free agency. For many reasons like opening up the offense, and having consistent set of hand that our young qb can throw to. Without a vertical threat we can't score quick and that is hurting us in the 2 minute drill.

We go into next season with the same receivers and nothing will improve. Defenses will still stack the box, our production in our run game will decrease, and when in obvious passing situations our QB will be staring down the barrel of a all out blitz. This is what has been happening from the second half of the Saints game.

Ad dominant TE can also do wonders opening up the field and setting other WRs free...
