Merriman to forgo knee surgery

Shawne Merriman informed the team on Wednesday that he will forgo surgery on his knee and play this season with two torn knee ligaments.

I give him 3-4 weeks before he completely blows his knee out and jeopardizes his entire career, instead of just losing one season. SM just doesn't get it. Yeah yeah, he's tough and he's a competitor, but with a lack of mobility and lateral movement, he won't be able to provide the same productivity that makes him so valuable to the Chargers.
