Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that CFL WR Duron Carter, son of Hall of Fame WR Cris Carter, can begin to negotiate with NFL team’s starting next month.
According to La Canfora, as many as 10 teams, Dolphins; Jaguars; Jets; Patriots; Raiders; Ravens; Steelers; Texans; ... Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that CFL WR Duron Carter, son of Hall of ...
NFL teams are currently tracking Carter, but “several” sources have told him that the Colts are expected to be the favorites to sign him to a contract. La Canfora adds that the Colts interest in Carter is believed to be “significant.”
NFL teams can begin negotiating with the CFL standout on December 1, but he can’t formally sign with a new team until February.
La Canfora mentions that a weak class of free agent receivers could lead teams to make a strong push to sign Carter. As of now, roughly a third of the league is said to have interest and sources tell La Canfora that the Seahawks and 49ers are among these teams.
Carter, 23, had significant off-field issues years ago, which is why he eventually ended up playing for the Montreal Alouettes. This season, Carter caught 75 passes for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns.

Everyone know what the Dolphins needs- the big, tali and fast WR, TE and RB right? WILL IT HAPPEN ????

...BUT WE KNOW THEY WON'T SIGN HIM, BECAUSE OF THIS "While his dad says Duron Carter has the size, speed, hands and route-running ability to make it, his former quarterback at Coffeyville offered a different scouting report. On Twitter, Cayden Cochran called Duron Carter "the most lazy, whiny & non-work ethic player the nfl has ever seen ... Horrible person & will be a complete cancer to any team on the board."

Ouch that's a ringing endorsement from a former player lol

His dad turned the corner, only after being fired, maybe the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but if that statement from his former QB has any truth to it, I'd stay far far away

This kid's failed at at multiple school stops. Sounds like a red flag-worthy self-entitled brat... but then again, not so different than many diva wideouts. I think Cris could keep him on the straight and narrow having walked that walk himself. Dad says he's very intelligent with a high tested IQ and 28 on a pre Wonderlic test.. so his physical qualities and upside might well be worth the effort.

Here's a good recap of his background and issues

Chris Carter hates everything about us. He will never allow his son to sign with us.

Miami actually worked him out pre-draft last year and he is from the Miami area.

I would be OK with Carter if Lazor thinks he can compliment our WR core. Who would be the odd man out?
I remember his dad dropping a TD pass against Minnesota when he briefly played for the Dolphins.
If he is anything like his father, the talent is there. Self entitled brat - probably.

Would have to be Gibson right?

He is in fact a self entitled brat. He and his dad both whined because they didn't feel he was getting enough looks at Ohio State and he was constantly getting into trouble.

Cris Carter was/is an alcoholic. It wasn't until Buddy Ryan cut did he straighten up. Makes me wonder if his kid has the same affliction.

I sit next to a co-worker who used to party with Chris Carter before he made it big.
Carter straightened out his life

Pretty sure he went to high school at St. Thomas Aquinnes...went to Ohio State and got kicked out of school for academic issues, went to some community college in Kansas then went to Alabama and left the team...not sure why.

He's not very good IMO, tall receiver with speed but his production doesn't warrant the head case he is.

By the way...what's our obsession with Ohio State players? I can't think of one that has worked out....David Boston, Ted Ginn, Brian Hartline (overrated on this board), Austin Spitler...I can't think of one Ohio State player that was any good for us.

I like this draft for receivers. Not as good as this year's, but still solid.

The RB class is the one that will end up being like this year's receiver draft.
