Miami appears to have contacted John Harbaugh's camp

The stars seem to be aligning for us...hear me out, lol.

-Harbaugh seems to want his own GM. (Just us and the Falcons)
-We hastily added Chad Alexander (who seems to be the GM Harbaugh would want) to our interview list. (Inside knowledge?)
-Several "insiders" have said or alluded to the Dolphins being the Giants biggest competition for Harbaugh. (Including CBS Sports setting the Dolphins as the 2nd best odds)
-Ross has a pre-existing relationship with the Harbaugh family. (Comfort level for Ross and Harbaugh)
-We are trying to hurry up with our GM search this week. (Possibly to get Harbaugh's preferred guy, and to gain consensus on firing McDaniel)
-Harbaugh won't even take any interviews until next week at the earliest. (We have time)
-The NFL seems to be operating under a gentlemen's agreement to not interview any of the assistants that are in the playoffs this weekend, so the HC search for everybody will take longer than usual. (We have time)
-Even if we miss on Harbaugh, we can still take our shot at Shula, Minter, Stefanski, Hafley, etc. (Gives Ross comfort to fire McDaniel)

That's how I see things starting to line up. There may be a touch of hopium in there, lol, but I think we might be heading in the right direction.

Obviously, hiring any of the 49ers guys and not firing McDaniel before next week would be bad signs, but until I see those, I remain positive and hopeful.

As always, I am ready to be hurt again.

Supposedly he won't entertain a team with a head coach in place, so that GM might need to fire McD before those discussions would begin.

If I had to bet, I'd say Ross had a conversation with Harbaugh already to gauge potential interest. But yes "publicly" the new GM would fire McMoron.

These talks are not a one way street.

It's very possible when the team lays out their philosophy and master plan, a potential candidate is not interested.

It's not always as simple as some believe.

Maybe so but if that didn't happen with McKay then he should have made the final four. The Rams draft well every year.

Likely that outsiders will never know the exact discussions that took place. That's why I tend not to get outraged and fly off the handle with every "snippet" that's out there.

I don't have the necessary information to make concrete conclusions for why the finalists are who they are. Nobody does.

Well I do know that if Champ Kelly ends up getting the GM job then it was a sham interview process to begin with.

I suppose it's possible that it's all just to keep up appearances.

Who knows? If Ross has his heart set on keeping McD/Kelly, then yes.

Couldn’t the dolphins just hire the San Diego guy Chad Alexander then have him fire McDaniel and hire harbaugh… ? They could make it sound like it was all Chad’s idea and they hadn’t even thought about it..

That is my thought of what is happening. Chad Alexander wasn't even on our list of GM Candidates until John Harbaugh became available.
