[h=3]Team makes moves in defensive backfield.[/h]The Miami Dolphins have been awarded defensive back Jalil Brown (from Indianapolis) off waivers, the team announced. To make room for Brown on the active roster the team placed defensive back D.J. Campbell on waivers.

The 6-1, 205-pound Brown joins Miami after spending the past seven weeks of the 2013 season with the Indianapolis Colts where he saw action in five games, recording 4 tackles. Brown originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft selection (118th overall) by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2011 NFL Draft. Brown spent two seasons with the Chiefs (2011-12) appearing in 29 games prior to being waived at the conclusion of training camp on September 1, 2013. He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts on October 22, 2013. Over the course of his career he has appeared in 34 career games with 2 starts while registering 37 tackles, two passes defensed and a forced fumble.

Brown attended the University of Colorado (2006-10) where he appeared in 49 games, 28 of those in a starting role. He totaled 167 tackles, 24 passes defensed, five tackles for loss, four fumble recoveries, and ten special teams tackles for the Buffalos. Brown was an all-state selection at running back as a high school senior after rushing for 1,910 yards and 29 touchdowns while catching 15 passes for 400 yards and three scores. Born October 14, 1987 in Phoenix, Arizona, Brown attended South Mountain High School in Phoenix, Arizona.

NFL Draft report said of CB Brown:

Pick Analysis: Brown's a physical corner with good size and speed who could find a home as a reserve on a team that plays a lot of bump and run. Uses his length and strength to prevent the free release, can turn and run, but does not possess the hips to prevent separation or the elite recovery speed once beaten off the line. Overall awareness in coverage is not adequate at this time. Ball skills are average. With further development, could be very productive in run support. Brown has enough physical measurables, good intangibles and a short-term memory needed for the league. Currently carries a late-round grade.

There have been worse pick ups this late in the season. Prob good for ST

Just sayin. According to the article: He's good in bump and run, which we dont play. Bad ball skill and awareness and is better defending the run than the pass. I mean we definitely need help in the run game but not from the corners.

What would you call him? A good player?

Nice attitude!

Sounds more like a safety than a corner.

Sounds like our CB are more hurt than originally thought.......any injury update?

Sounds more like a safety than a corner.

With Thomas and Brown, Miami has two hybrid defensive backs: one a safety that can play corner in a pinch, the other a corner that might be better fitted for safety development.

Coyle maybe can take chicken crap and make chicken salad from Brown.
