Miami can add to a scary defense

The strength of the team should be the defense. By adding Suh, defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle will be able to draw up some creative blitz packages. Suh is an impact defender who stuffs the run and will allow sack-artist specialists Olivier Vernon and Cameron Wake free opportunities on the quarterback. It's a potentially scary scenario for opposing AFC East teams.
Where this team could stand to get better is in the secondary. Veteran Brent Grimes is coming off two Pro Bowl appearances, but the cornerback group could use some talented young depth.

OV has done nothing that makes anyone go "wow, that kid is a damn good pass rusher"

He's a nonstop motor limited move DE. He doesn't have much pass rushing skills, he never explodes of the line to make a huge sack when Miami needs it, consistent 1v1 & did nothing last year.

Good player, nothing special.

Yep.

We need a lot back there. 2 good LBs, 2 good DBs, and we could still use more pass rush or run-stoppage.

If 'BPA' meant we drafted a DT, we couldn't complain, depending how much better that player was rated the choice at more of a 'need-position'.

To be fair to kevin coyle i wouldn't send out blitz packages with wheeler, wilson, the corner that came from the grocery store and all the other garbage that was out there for the second half of the season.

While the presence of SUH will make some of the players better we are missing way too many pieces to be dominate. Right now we don't have a unit on defense that could compete with the Seahawks defense from last year.

When we were dominate in the past we had monster tackles Bowens and Gardner shutdown corners Madison and Surtain adequate safeties and rushing ends and flying lbs that would tackle everything. Our nickel cb could have started for other teams. We are better than last year on paper, but we have a lot of work to do.

I always think it's better to love and support your team ......especially when they are obviously trying to improve.....than finding EVERY reason to knock them. Go hop on a bandwagon. PS: Olivier Vernon's stats will skyrocket this year due to the addition of Suh.

He's average borderline good ... Low ceiling high floor.

Vernon isn't some stud pass rusher that is a cornerstone of a defense, but he's a solid guy and great complimentary player.
I'd like to keep him around beyond next year but he's not the heir apparent to Wake. I expect Wake to give us two more productive seasons, we need to start looking into another big time pass rusher.

I think you undersell Vernon. Remember when he exploded off the line with a spin move and beat Wake to the QB. I forget which game it was but that was an awesome play. Both Vernon and Wake spun by their man and exploded to the QB

Could you imagine if we had the ability to insert Madison, Surtain, Zach, and Jason in to this defense in their respective positions.....

The AFCE would have to spend all their money on Kickers bc FG's would be all they would hope to accomplish.
