Miami could be missing three offensive Starters for Thursday.

DAVIE - Tailback Ronnie Brown isn't the only Miami Dolphins offensive starter who will likely miss Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Tight end Anthony Fasano sat out Tuesday's practice nursing the hip injury that kept him out of Sunday's 25-23 win over Tampa Bay, and while starting left guard Justin Smiley is working on a limited basis, Nate Garner, his replacement in Sunday's game, remains with the starting unit.

Smiley, who is nursing a shoulder injury he suffered on Nov. 8th in the loss to the Patriots, sat out all last week's practice, and Sunday's game, but is hopeful he'll be cleared to play on Thursday. He's practiced for the past two days but apparently is being held out of contact drills.

Dude if Sperry & Garner keep playing like they did Sunday, it really does not bother me that Fasano & Smiley get healthy. As for Ronnie I think it is safe to say he will not play Thurday. Im interested in see what Hilliard & Sheets can do, plus I know Ricky can do a good enough job.

Uh, it's a Thursday night game, remember? :ponder:

Just two days to go

I could care less about Fasano. We need Smiley back though. He is our pulling guard on WC plays - something I'm not sure Garner can do well.

I like seeing these backups and what they can do, as long as we still win. I hope Hilliard takes alot of snaps and Ricky doesn't carry the whole load. Like to see more of Torbor & Anderson in for the prima donnas too.

Fasano hasn't done much this year so him being out isn't doom and gloom. Smiley is a different story though so you hope he's back or that Garner plays well.

Easier said then done I guess

The smart decision is to sit and rest these guys in this short week. There is still 7 games to go and we'll need everybody to win as many games as possible.

As for the wildcat, I'm pretty sure that we'll not see a lot of wildcat plays, if any. We'll see more "Wildpat" and a lot of base offense.

The thought of more wildpat makes me want to punch babies...

We could play our entire bench and still destroy the panthers. Easy W this thursday.

The Panthers looked really solid to me in the last 3-4 weeks. Their running game is exceptionnal though Gross (their LT) is now out for the year. We'll have to stop the run to have a chance, their defense is suspect especially against the run.

Pretty even matchup IMO, this game will be close...

I dont have the confidence we could beat the Raiders, Browns, Chiefs with ease, if that tells you anything, Carolina game will be very tough. We can win but it will take a Great effort on our players part.

Go Miami.

I am more worried about soliai, he will definately be needed when your going up against the best rushing offense and its a short week for ferguson to rest...

Agreed! Paul Saloi I believe really hurt his ankle against those Pats and just hung in there as best he could . All his other games were much better this year. A ankle does not heal overnight but you can expect him in for a few rest plays this week which should help. Mixing those linebackers in should really help the most. IMO Remember Carolinia is short on rest to and it was a bigger tougher win for them than us against Tampa. Still they are playing at home which will help even that edge out. Carolina should be a win for us. Only the Pats and Steelers "should" be in our way from here on out. Of course with the Pats and Steelers loosing that will make it double tough on us as they will be needing to kick our butts and they have the better teams at this point.

so this beggs the question will tightend be addressed in the offseason or is everyone happy with the tightends we have now ? I personally think Fasano is just having a bad year but I would let one of the other guys go.

To me the big question is how many snaps the big man in the middle can take (Ferg) cause stopping the run will hinge on that mans back. My biggest concern is how to keep the big man fresh. He gets double teamed every time he is out there, if you watched him last Sunday you know what I mean. to me he is the Heart and sole to the run defense. To me Soliai has to show me something I haven't seen much of from him, that is stuff the middle. I know alot of you guys out there are high on him but I am not sold yet. I hope I am dead wrong. Question thuogh, am I wrong or did they play a little 4/3 when Ferg. was resting on Sunday.
