Even if Miami takes a Beck or Stanton in the second round, an intriguing late-round pick or free-agent signing could be Idaho State's Matt Gutierrez.

Gutierrez, at 6â€â€4 , 232, played only 11 college games, transferring from Michigan to Idaho State in 2005 after suffering a shoulder injury in 2004. He landed a last-minute spot in the East-West Shrine game where he was coached by Don Shula
.
Gutierrez also has a connection to Miami's new coach. His quarterbacks coach at Michigan, Scott Loeffler, played under Cameron in 1993 when Cameron coached in Ann Arbor.

"His ideals, the things he teaches and stresses, trickled down to me many years later," Gutierrez said of Cameron.

WoW would that be something.

Taking a chance on a late round QB is not a travesty. It would be nice if Randy actually adhered to his strategy of taking a QB ever year though. He actually doesn't...

I would personally love this startegy and would have no problem with four Qb's on our Roster. It is our most important position

if u sya he donest cuz of the saban era ur wrong. saban made the calls not him

I remember Gutierrez playing at De La Salle High School (about 5 minutes from where I live). He was like a man among boys out there.

thats good, let two guys learn from one of the most consistent QB's in the past 10 years then battle it out for a roster spot

Why draft 2 QB's that we don't even know if they can start day 1? I say draft a QB, either Quinn or another QB in the 2nd round. No need for so many QB's. We don't want our QB position looking like a playground do we?
