Miami Dead Last in Special Teams??

ya cuz we had bess returning those sutipd kicks and punts. he is still by far the worst return man i have seen.

We're not going to fix everything this year. It's why us winnig the way we're winning is a true testament to TS and the rest of the coaching staff. When a third of what you do is really bad and you still win games, that's saying a lot.

Cmon now at least be honest and put some of the blame on Ginn's shoulders too. Because letting the ball bounce on the ground for more yardage certainly did not help things. Which is probably a big reason he was taken off special teams

Our coverage teams are terrible. I think CArp got almost every kick into the endzone this past game and we still couldn't cover.

Ill take it.
Before the year everyone was saying how out special teams were gonna be damn good and out O and D would struggle.
Could not be more far from the truth..
but ill take it

Ginn wasn't given much of a chance in Denver with most kicks being touchbacks. His numbers will go up. Bess is a horrible returner.

Please . . . I don't know why people are complaining about a ball bouncing in front of Ginn and he misplaced it . . . that is the reason why he isn't on returns?

That is the biggest amount of crap I hear people say . . . the man has returned kickoffs and punts his whole life . . . and because he lets one drop, he gets yanked? LOL for a guy who is LAST in returns . . . Ginn doesn't need no blame . . . Bess is horrid on returns, and we had no problem with Ginn on returns last year. I can buy the, we want Ginn to focus on WR argument . . . but there is no other explanation to why Bess is still on kickoffs and punts . . . none. I like Bess as a WR, but he is too slow to be on kickoffs.

I do think there needs to be a coaching change, IF things do not change by seasons end. I thought Miami would be STOPPING big returns this year with all the special teamers that were brought in.

Ted has had flashes, but nothing solid so far this season....

Bess has been below average for the most part...

But things could turn around during the second half of the season. I think they will do better and improve on both sides of special teams.

We are dead last in giving up the most yardage on kickoffs and we also have the lowest average returns on kickoffs.

I think I am reading these stats correctly? We need a new special team's coach.

Well having the 9th ranked offense and averaging the 12th best in points given up, the Phins aren't going to be all world in every category.

Hopefully they'll look to improve special teams in the offseason along with WR and Secondary help

I think you answered your own question... letting a punt bounce in front of you is not just a mistake it is the CARDINAL SIN for a punt returner... it is the first thing you learn to NEVER, EVER do... You are right he has been returning kicks his whole life which just makes this error WORSE. He did it a number of times and every football coach on the planet will plant you on the bench for making this error...

As a punt returner your FIRST job is CATCH IT... Your SECOND job is take it up field. The only thing I can think is that letting it bounce is symptomatic of tentative play... it is not aggressive... and worse may be even fearful. I'm not suggesting he is afraid because I don't know, just speculating.

I want him back on punt returns like most others but there is A REASON they are holding him out... The truth is NONE of us know what that is... Sparano sees the kid every day in practice, he talks to him... There is a reason Ginn is not returning punts and Sparano and co. are the only ones who really know why.

Yeh, the special teams has been pretty bad this year. As far as our yardgae per kick return, thats all on Bess. Ginn has been pretty good in his opps to return kicks but all the ones Bess returned felt like 10 yards and then down on first contact.

Bess still has a better average per kick return than Ginn though

Yeah it was a sad day when Westhoff left the Dolphins for the Jets ..Special Teams have been on a decline ever since
