Destined Dolphins?
> Posted by Omar Kelly at 2:18:50 PM

There has been a lot of talk about how these Dolphins control their own destiny.

But have we ever stopped for a minute to think that this might possibly be a team that's destined.

Destined to put together the biggest turnaround in NFL history.

Destined to serve as the Gridiron Grinch, sending the Patriots and Jets home for the playoffs.

Destined to finally end Brett Favre's NFL career, sending Captain America hunting for the rest of his diaper less life.

Destined to create a blueprint of how to revitalize an NFL franchise in one season.

Destined to teach all football players, from Pop Warner to the pros, about the rewards of a team-first philosophy.

Destined to set an NFL record for fewest turnovers in an NFL season.

Destined to have Chad Pennington redefine what the NFL's Most Valuable Player award should represent.

Destined to have two players from the same team - tailback Ronnie Brown and safety Yeremiah Bell - split the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award.

So, what else do you feel the Dolphins are destined to do during this miraculous season?

I don't mind homer love. That's fine.

This team is a team of overachievers. Y Bell.....C Pennington...R Brown.....

Right now, we are playing above ourselves. That's not a bad thing. It's just........What this team *is*...It is a testimate to Sparano and CO that they have the guys playing the right way. We seem to have the STs going the right way.....I really don't think we are good enough to go all the way, but, we are good enough to win.

We play efficient and our offense seems to show up when our defense puts us in bad situations. Clutch team, but The Colts IMO would be too much.

we dont play the colts we will play BALT or NE and round 2 we will play AT pitts. one way or another i doubt we get past round 2.

As a certain president-elect once said "Our destiny will not be controlled for us, it will controlled BY us." or something to that effect. Nothing else you can ask for at this time of the NFL season. Now it's up to our Dolphins to go out and take advantage the situation & stick a fork in the playoff chances of the Jets and Pats (cuz we all know that the Ravens aren't losing at home to the Jags)! :D

how about this: (in order)

destined for chad pennington to defeat his old team and make the jets look like fools for letting him go

destined to defeat the very SAME team that we played LAST time we were in the playoffs (2001) ravens...crush their dreams and send them home

destined for joey porter to defeat his old team in their house and send the message that he wasnt over the hill

destined to win the AFC championship

destined to defeat the Giants - the team who saved our history last season and will help us MAKE history this season

destined to go down as the greatest turnaround that will ever happen in the NFL....forever

(unless ofcourse a 0-16 team wins the superbowl 50 yrs from now)

i still think it's crazy that, with a win sunday, we'll have gone from 1-15 to 11-5. sure seems like destiny. one one five

I think this part says it all. It bugs me that the media has hardly mentioned Penny, but their all over Manning, and Ryan for some reason. Manning just recently has turned it on, and Ryan should be the Rookie of the year but thats it.

you know my feet are usually firmly planted in the ground on most things dolphins, but if we get in, (you know) anything can happen. just have to keep that ball of momentum rolling. at this point, with this team nothing will surprise me. i have waited my whole life for a dolphins team like this one.

You said it right there brother, I think if this team plays the way they've been playing ( as a team ) then we should be able to beat anyone! :woot:

The playbing above ourselves quote which I've heard often is something that I question. Over ourselves because we don't have players like Romo or T.O.? Linebackers like Urlacher or Lewis?

Our game against KC showed me that we can hang with any situation. sure we're 2-4 against winning teams... but we beat NE as soundly as they beat us. We took it to the Chargers who are still playing for their playoff lives.

We're 10-6 because thats exactly what we are. No more no less. Allot is said about 'names'.. or 'no names'.. Miami fans of all fans should appreciate a 'no name' team. Those same losing teams we beat, beat the Jets.. who many people believe are better than we are because they spent money on names that we didn't. Well guess what, we have the same record. Regardless of how we got here. Add to that, that we're playing better than the Jets right now. we should have every reason to believe that we should go into Giants Stadium and win this game.

Overacheiving? I think not.. Underappreciated.

Bask in the warmth of homer love bliss!

Disagree with the 3 names you mentioned as "overachievers".
Bell has always shown talent. His problem has always been the ability to stay healthy. He's not playing over his head.
I'm not sure why you put Pennington in that category either. Prior to his shoulder injury 2 yrs ago he was doing EXACTLY what he is doing now. That is vintage CP.
Ronnie Brown was on the verge of an MVP type season prior to his knee injury last yr, so he's a very good player.
Where this team needs a talent upgrade is in the WR position, OG (due to injuries), OLB (opposite Porter), CB and Safety.
The rest of the team is pretty solid and has ability to get better due to youth (Merling, Langford, Long, Thomas) next season.

To anyone who thinks destiny does not exist, take this season as proof that there very well might be Pre-ordained destiny. Parcells former caoch of the 2 teams we are fighting with. A former QB castoff from the team we are fighting with, undrafted players like Bess apporaching records set by a player on a team we are fighting with. hell the return of the Blue Pants. This season felt different even after the Arizona disaster. With that said, this is a game that we have lost over the past 20 years....this will be the test of how different this season really is. Fins 24 Jets 13
