Here's my take at the '08 Miami Dolphins roster, give or take a few reserves that we'll probably never see on the field... Knowing Parcells history and his moves in Free Agency, plus the large amount of money we have to spend, I see some potentially big moves in FA happening...I took into consideration the now-infamous Dallas trade, plus CJ wanting to come home, plus Shaun Rogers probably being released, plus Faneca wanting out OR the Sporano-Adams connection...All that together plus eight draft picks (2 in the first from Dallas, 2 in the 2nd, 3rd goes to Cinci, 4th, 5th went to KC, 6th, and 7th) equates to the potential for a major turnaround for this team
Rookies in bold
Free Agents in Italics
OFFENSE 2008
QB- John Beck, Trent Green, Matt Flynn
RB- Marion Barber/Ronnie Brown, Lorenzo Booker, Jesse Chatman
FB-Reagan Muai
TE-Martellus Bennet, Justin Peele, David Martin
WR-Chad Johnson, Ted Ginn, Derek Hagan, Greg Camarillo, Kerry Reed
OG-Alan Faneca/Flozell Adams, Rex Hadnot, Drew Mormino, Chris Lewinski
C-Samson, Satele
T-Vernon Carey, fourth round pick, Cory Lekkerkerker, Joe Toledo
In Summary:
-Parcells gives Beck the nod to start
-We draft a late round, experienced QB to add depth
-Knowing, the health issues with Brown, Fins add the Barbarian to help split the carries, with L. Booker being the change-of-pace back
-We add a stud at the TE position, something this team needed
-We beef up the Oline to help protect the inexperienced Beck and to open up holes for the three-headed bee (RB,MB,LB)
Big names to get rid of...
Cleo Lemon, LJ Shelton, Ricky Williams (I was his biggest fan but he continues to dissapoint, with the three bees. plus Chatman whos shown he can run the ball effectively, theres no need for Williams.. Try and trade for anything but most likely we should release and move on with a new regime in power), Marty Booker (I wish him the best, but age is starting to catch up to him)
DEFENSE 2008
DE-Jason Taylor, Matt Wroth/Marcus Spears, late 2nd roud draft pick, Quentin Moses
DT-Shaun Rogers, Vonnie Holiday (would be better fit as a DE in a 3-4 scheme), Paul Solai
LB- Zach Thomas (i'll leave him on for now), Channing Crowder, Dan Connor, Joey Porter, Bobby Carpenter, Donnie Spragan, Edmond Miles
CB- Will Allen, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Andre Goodman, Michael Lehan
SS-Yeremiah Bell, Travis Daniels (showed this year, hes too slow to be a CB)
FS- Jason Allen/Renaldo Hill (open competition for the starting spot)
In Summary:
-The defensive end position adds depth and youth
-Major upgrade at the DT position which will greatly help out
-LB position adds a stud and depth
-Secondary adds much needed talent with DRC plus an open competition at the FS position.
SPECIAL TEAMS 2008
Return Specialists- Ted Ginn, Lorenzo Booker
Kicker- Jay Feely
Punter- Mike Dragosavich
-Nice open competition between Ginn and Book should be nice
-Jay Feely was our offensive MVP last year
-Brandon Fields could quite possibly be the worst punter of all time, and Drag's got a booming kick
-The addition of Bobby Carpenter should help in the kick coverage team
