Miami Dolphins #1 in rushing yards per carry

Run the DAMN ball no matter what Lazor you idiot! So frustrating how quickly this team stops running the ball. Worst, sometimes its not because of adversity or negative plays. But rather more because we want to get cute and throw it all over the place.

Second to last if we want to be accurate. Also these stats are super misleading. If you have watched Dolphin games this year you know that we have really struggled to run the ball and started getting pass happy because we could not run the ball....Not saying we don't abandon the run to quickly but these stats are very misleading.

Efficiency usually goes down as volume goes up, that should be expected, but we still have to try.

Have we ever even had a series where we run 3 times in a row, outside of trying to run the clock out? I'm not saying it's necessary, but you would think at least once during the season you would see a us running on both 1st and 2nd, and run again on 3rd and 3 or less. Good teams do that, especially early in the game.

Miller was tied for 3rd last year with 5.1 ypc. That includes Latavius Murray's numbers (5.2) but he only had 82 carries so it's skewed a bit.

Miller is 4th in the league this year with 5.5 ypc. The problem is he is 26th amongst running backs when it comes to total carries.

While ypc is a useful stat, I think.it is also wise to consider the percentage of runs that go for over 4.0 yards. Throw out garbage time stats and stats against bad defenses, so that is most of the Titans and Texans runs.

If you can consistently get 4.0 yards a cary, you can be a successful running team. If not, they you will always have an offense that stutters and punts a lot.

Miller is a home run hitting back, but I have been increasingly impressed with his effort to make yards after contact, especially under Campbell. But if the OL cannot open the hole and the RB follow his blocks, the 4.0 yard consistency simply fails. One big run helps the ypc stat, but it doesn't really change the need for consistent down after down production needed for a running team to be successful.

We simply are not built across the OL to be a running team. Thomas is garbage, James is powder puff, Douglas is a rookie so ill give him time, but Turner is beyond raw.

We have no Marshall Yana types. We have no Zack Martin types. Our guys are pathetically bad at technique. We are not going to consistently generate leverage and power. Moving people simply isn't our strength.

..... And IMHO, that is what needs to change.
