10. WR Brandon Gibson, 2013
Signed a three-year, $9.7 million contract with $3.75 million guaranteed. In two years (including an injury-shortened 2013 season) he totaled 59 receptions for 621 yards and four touchdowns. He also had several key dropped passes.

9. QB Josh McCown, 2008
Signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract. He was expected to start over John Beck, but became expendable after the team signed Chad Pennington and added him to a group that included Beck and rookie Chad Henne. He was traded five months after signing with the Dolphins.

8. TE Eric Green, 1995
Signed six-year, $12 million contract. He only lasted one season, recording 43 receptions for 499 yards and three touchdowns. He was released in 1996 by first-year coach Jimmy Johnson due to poor work habits.

7. CB Richard Marshall, 2012
Signed for three years, $16 million with $6 million guaranteed. He played in just four games with 17 tackles and one interception before a back injury ended his season.

6. LB Reggie Torbor, 2008
Signed for four years, $14 million with $5 million guaranteed. Lasted only two seasons, totaling 54 tackles. He clearly wasn't worth the $3 million salary he was due in 2010 and was cut.

5. G Justin Smiley, 2008
Signed for five years, $25 million with $9 million guaranteed. He started 24 games in two seasons. He was the first player the Dolphins regime led by executive Bill Parcells signed during free agency in 2008.

4. WR Ernest Wilford, 2008
Signed for four years, $13 million with $6 million guaranteed. The former Jacksonville player had three receptions for 25 yards and no touchdowns in his only season with Miami before being cut.

3. DE Mario Williams, 2016
The Dolphins signed Williams to a two-year, $17 million deal prior to the 2016 season, believing that the veteran defensive end could still be an impact player. But he was a major disappointment (13 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks) because his speed off the edge is gone, which is why he lost his starting job.

2. S Gibril Wilson, 2009
Signed for five years, $27 million with $8 million guaranteed. The former Giants and Raiders player was among the top free agents, but was cut after two seasons with no interceptions.

1. C Jake Grove, 2009
Signed for four years, $28 million with $14 million guaranteed. Grove, the former Raiders center, had promise but never good health. The signs were there but Miami signed him anyway.

my god what a list Parcells then Ireland managed to create just by themselves. Plus Colombo mentioned in the article. I have to go to my safe space and suck on my pacifier after reading this article. Might need a psychologist too.

Personally I thought Gibril Wilson should have been #1 based on performance alone but I guess they factored in the contracts of all these guys.

Gibril Wilson was the worst. Guy was just awful! no fault of his though, dude was cut by the Giants and the raiders but we gave him boat load of money.

Bobby Carpenter literally cost us a few games. Although not lasting long, one of the worst filtering through the Dallas rejects pipeline, should be somewhere on this list.

Bobby Carpenter literally cost us a few games. Although not lasting long, one of the worst of a bad bunch through the Dallas rejects pipeline, he should be somewhere on this list.

David Gerard cost us $1.1M for doing nothing. Good thing he got hurt and we ended up with RT17 instead.

Reggie Howard 6yrs for $21 million. One interception to show for it. I realize Phillip Wheeler and Dannel Ellerbe put up some numbers merely by being on the field, but those signings are still haunting this franchise.

There were durability issues, but some of that 2008 O-line performed pretty decently. Grove doesn't deserve to be #1 on the list.

How is Daunte Culpepper not on this list??

Grove and Smiley were 2 reasons we made the playoffs in 2008. They were good players but yes bad contracts because neither could stay healthy.

I think Derrius Thompson should be on the list. He came on late in Washington and was brought in to be our #2 WR. He had like 26 catches. He did however win our Super Bowl when we beat NE in Miami on Monday Night Football he got the game winner over CB Troy Brown.

Brandon Gibson doesn't belong on that list. He played well and got injured. Whoever made this seem to leave Philip Wheeler, Reggie Howard and Damien Mcintosh off that list.
