Miami Dolphins #2 OVR Defense

I like our potential and progress so far. I really hope J Peezy comes back healthy and ready to dominate. The thing that worries me from those stats is the 3rd down conversation rate against us. 42% is pretty bad. Teams completing more than 1/3 of 3rd downs against you I feel is a pretty good indicator of how well your defense is performing.
 
Well I guarantee you had we finished 31st on defense this preseason, those that like to hate would remind us how we will be the 1-15 team we were last year and having the 31st ranked defense in preseason is further proof. But when we finish second, no one takes the pre season seriously, everyone is vanilla, no one cares about pre season. Funny how that works isn't it.

exactly my point. I honestly think some of us fans do reverse psychology on ourselves to lessen the pain felt when we go 1-15 or 4-12 etc. It does hurt when we lose. We cannot and will not continue to dwell in the NFL's basement. It's someone elses turn. Maybe the Patriots.

Take a picture because thats pretty. I think our D played very well this preseason through out the entire depth chart from starters to back ups. I think we have a very promising future and hope we continue to dominate up front like we've been doing. Any thoughts?

Its preseason but its still nice to see.
 
This is definitely exciting and if we actually have a top 5 defense the whole season, we could really make some noise this year (far more than anyone is expecting).

But I agree with nosferatu - the 3rd down pct has to come way down. Giving up 1st downs on 3rd (and 4th) down are the plays that can really deflate a team.
 
Anyone that isn't stoked about how our D played and their new attitude knows nothing of our team or football IMO. As young as we are and the way our team was the only one I watched this offseason that had continuous pressure every play gives us plenty of reason to be proud of this accomplishment.

Yes, we were second in yards allowing per games, next to Tampa Bay and we were second in points per game, after Detroit.

So we are locked as the 2nd best defense overall, but we were surely the most complete defense!.
