Miami Dolphins 2025 Draft Report Card: Attacking A Fundamental Flaw Head On by Kyle Crabbs Locked on Dolphins

Fans rarely like beef drafts.

Rarely? Probably never.

The Dolphins did exactly what they needed to do in this regard... solid unexciting stuff.

I like this draft. I don't love it, but this is what we needed to do.

The further removed we get from draft day, i feel like as a whole this will be looked back on as one of the worst drafts in a decade.

The amount of guys that could bust in the first round is astronomical. All of the 1st round olinemen are undersized. There is a chance every QB in this class will bust... yes, even Ward. The edge rushers are all a bit meh. Even Carter is very raw and could take time to produce, there was a very low amount of WR talent, the DTs will proabably be the only position group to amount to much of anything.

I could be wrong but I think now that the hype is wearing off, the entire class is kinda underwhelming.

In a draft full of potential average to bust worthy players to get two solid big guys is a win for the Dolphins.

This draft needed to happen in 2022. We left All-Pro caliber players on the table in 2020-2021, but we at least had a base. Trading for Hill, Chubb and Ramsey (plus Ross losing picks) set us back years. We might actually be a legitimate playoff contender if we built the core of the team before trading our picks and cap space for shiny toys.

I will never like Grier. Mostly because he seems to be incapable of building on success. It makes you wonder how full of BS he was last year when he acted like the OL wasn’t an issue.

This draft was arguably the weakest I have scouted in 15+ years in terms of elite talent. I firmly believe most of the 1st round picks will be average NFL players at best. Of the position groups, I would agree that the IDL prospects have the highest chance to amount to something.

100% agree...

And that goes with the idea that there was a lot of depth in this draft, but few elite players. ....and I think that attests to why you and I both liked McMillan, and I liked Stewart. These guys were stabs at greatness, rather than just meh players.

See... I do agree with you from time to time.

Thank you for this, excellent video... Haven't been around much lately because, in general there's been little value in doing so...

I didn't like this draft because I don't think it was future cap friendly. OTOH it was exactly the draft 90% of this place wanted beforehand, and are now bitching about it after the fact.

I don't hate it because, while I don't like specifically fixing needs in the draft, if done well will still yield positive results in the short term, it just isn't as productive as going for big tickets positions in the draft in a longer term timeframe. This draft definitely made the Fins better for the next 3-4 years, you'll get what I mean when it's time to re-sign these guys after that... Ugh! do we really want to sign a RB for that much? Do we really want to sign a guard for that much? How about Wilkins? oh grant I meant my bad... He wants that much!? Yikes...

Overall it made the Fins better in 25 so Im good!

This absolutely...

I've long said that drafting DTs, Safeties (and the like) is a long term problem, because you end up declining to resign these positions.

These tend to be one contract positions, as the star players abandon you for big contracts from stupid teams like Carolina and the Raiders.
