Outside of two big-ticket purchases — defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and tight end Jordan Cameron — the Dolphins have been fairly conservative with this offseason's free agent spending.

In fact, Miami has purged the roster so much, cutting the middle-aged veterans who are usually more expensive, they carry more dead money ($23 million) than any other team this season.

And apparently, this was done intentionally to purge the "progress stoppers."According to Mike Tannenbaum, the franchise's new vice president of football operations, the Dolphins have some young players ready to be called up from the bench.

That's why South Florida's NFL franchise appears to be embarking on a youth movement in 2015, and while there's a ton of risk associated with relying on half a dozen youngster to blossom like linebacker Jelani Jenkins and tailback Lamar Miller did last year, and Dallas Thomas didn't, there's also the potential for a handsome reward at the end of the startup venture.

It might not result in a playoff run this year, but who knows where the Dolphins will be in two seasons.

I like it....I am truly excited to see last years draft class in action. Huge upside! Especially Aikens at Safety, Tripp at lB, Johnson at DT, and Williams at RB.

Might not result in a playoff run? **** you if that's your goal. 2008 was too long ago. It's time to be good again. Way overdue.

No one in the FO would ever say it, but the actions do speak to a youth movement IMO, and the purge of some of those horrible veteran contracts we had on the books. Its also a risk when you have all these young players on the field but were going to find out who can hold up and who can't in a hurry because of the position were in this year.

Players that need to show they can start or be permanently used as depth are: Jamar Taylor, Will Davis, Dallas Thomas and Dion Jordan

There's no sayin, we can't make a run and win with youth, right?! :hi5:

It`s Omar Kelly, he is an idiot. We can`t win because of Tannehill, that`s his agenda!! Fauxmar is a tool.

Thumbs up for another fine masterpiece of a sig Danny. Those green striped panties just draw my eyes right to them.

Getting rid of the dead money this year, moving towards youth, is all part of the master plan. For if the team nose dives this coming year, they can cut ties with Philbin and be in good shape to bring in a new coach. If the team does well this year, everything is in place for a long run of continued success.

Maybe I'm reading between the lines, but is it possible the front office is looking beyond Joe Philibin? If that's the case, we may see a very different draft than fans might expect.

In other words, maybe a slight change to a power scheme to suit the next coaching staff? I think this makes sense in the AFC East where the Dolphins face talented defensive fronts in Buffalo, New York and, to a lesser extent right now anyway, New England.

Then again, I don't think the front office is looking at this season as playoff-less.

Im not so sure they will change the system, the system is in place for the OLine and Lazor so I do not see that change for this year. It may be possible after this year but then who have to re draft for new system which is a whole new rebuid, well at least for the O-line again.

The season IMO speaks to . . . . "here you go Joe, you and your draft picks . . . we cut all that dead weight you helped bring in with Jeff, because we need to be clear in 2016 . . . you get one shot".

Just being honest. He's on a very "Sparano like" curve.

Yep, agreed. It is the season as it should be this year
