The Dolphins might have figured out the best way to use receiver Ted Ginn Jr.

And the answer is not more chances to make plays, but fewer.

Ginn played only 22 snaps in Sunday's 30-25 win against the New York Jets, yet had his most successful game as a professional. His two kickoff returns for touchdowns were a Dolphins record, as were his 299 return yards. And he became the first player in NFL history to have two touchdowns of 100 yards or more.

But those successes likely won't get him added time on offense, on which he played just 16 of 45 snaps after moving behind rookie Brian Hartline on the depth chart for the first time.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said Monday that he was happy with the lineup he used Sunday. That means Ginn, whom Sparano called a "streaky" player, could be used the same way going forward, more as a kickoff return specialist and occasional deep threat than as a full-time wide receiver.

"You have to understand what the player can do well and let him only do what he can do well," Sparano said. "He can benefit from learning that it only takes one play, and one play could be the difference in some of these situations."

I'll allow it. I'd rather see come in on 3 or 4 WR sets and have him lined up in the slot. Imagine the mismatch problems that would cause for the defense.

Great news. I wouldn't mind seeing Ginn on punt returns though.

Good to hear. Put him in on punts and keep him exclusive as a returner.

Anyone remember when Miami had a drought of kick retunes for a TD of some on the order of 10 to the -3 years.

Same - rather than hand him the job of starter because he was an 8th overall selection let him stay hungry....

And this is the exact reason why Chambers is so crucial here. The real reason, I believe, that Ginn Jr looks better with less snaps is because "HE WAS OUR ONLY DEEP THREAT". He had no backup. He was taking all the deep routes, deep DECOY routes, and the KR duties.

I feel that MIA will be getting us another deep threat this offseason. I see Hartline, Turner, and Ginn as deadlocks to make the team again next season...and Camarillo and Bess will be battling it out for that 5th WR spot.

But that is NEXT year. RIght now, MIA needs a deep threat to take the snaps that they are taking away from Ginn in order to give Ginn the fulltime KR duties. They still will give him like 20 something snaps on Offense, it seems, but who will be the deep threat decoy that will force teams to not stack the line of scrimmage?

Hartline is a possession WR and so is Turner. Camarillo and Bess are also possession WRs. Who?

For THIS season, it needs to be Chambers. We have no other choice. If we don't, then our OLINE will struggle to open up those holes they've been opening up BEFORE the Jets game (WHERE WE STRUGGLED RUNNING THE BALL...why?) Because the Jets didn't have to respect Hartline's deep threat speed.

Ginn was successful in the role he was in versus the Jets, keeping him in that role makes sense to me.

I like him as a Kick Returner, slowly bring him back as a WR to build his confidence and do not let him return punts yet......If Bess drops another one then make the move until then let Ginn take it slow.

Hartline got behind the D early in the game. Henne just overthrew him.
