The Dolphins’ immediate plans for veteran tackle Bryant McKinnie, acquired Monday in a trade with the Ravens, remain veiled heading into Sunday’s game against the Patriots. The prevailing wisdom is that McKinnie was brought in to, at some point, start at left tackle, moving Jonathan Martin to right tackle and Tyson Clabo to the bench.
While McKinnie wasn’t made available to the media Friday, Clabo did speak about the acquisition.

Expect to see him returning the opening kickoff.

Start him after the Cinci game so he knows the plays and has a ton of time to get used to the calls. Also, Martin would have more time at RT.

I think it is coaching mistake to let him start Sunday.

look what we are debating....a second or a second and a half of extra time for our QB to throw the ball. that's how fundamental this is. honestly if this staff and OL personnel can't do this, then jobs should be lost

All this super secrecy is just plain dumb. It is not like the whole world does not know our week points already.

Funny, because even just a half-second more "time for our QB to throw" would make him the QB with the third-most time to throw in the league.

A whole second more to throw would give him far and away the most time to throw of any quarterback in the league, while a second and a half would put him in another galaxy altogether. Is that really what you think he needs? ;)

Trying to cover up something that big? They're gonna need a bigger curtain.

The only way to settle this debate is to see Matt Moore in this offense. A vet that knows the offense. Would sacks fall or stay about the same? How many hits would he absorb.

Between RT's turnover-prone play and getting knicked up this coming rightly or wrongly.

I think RT has his worst game of the year tomorrow. Bellichick confuses him in a hostile environment.

I'm not (and have not) advocating inserting Moore by any means, but it's quite unlikely that he would take a similar number of sacks, given the league-wide data on the relationships among time, pressure, and sacks. Tannehill is quite clearly an odd duck in that regard, compared to other QBs, and that comparison is based on so many other QBs that it's highly unlikely that Moore would be just as odd a duck.

I know this isn't quantifiable, but I think more than the extra time itself, Tannehilll would benefit greatly from the peace of mind that the extra time would give him, especially in light of the comment Hartline made in regards to everyone rushing things now due to fear of sacks.

A lot of you don't seem to understand this trade completely. We are pass-first team. 60-40 and that's being modest. Yes, Bryant Mckinnie isn't great, but that's moreso against the run than it is the pass. In terms of pass protection, Clabo is one of the worst. Mckinnie is solid in pass protection, just watch his performance during the superbowl nine or so months ago. This is exactly what this team needs right now.

I think Matt Moore would take as many or more sacks as he is not as mobile as RT is. I still think they need to roll RT out of the pocket more. Give the Pat's D some different looks might slow them down enough so he can get a few more passes off.

I cannot take the turnovers that RT has coughed up. Unacceptable. The Saints game is tighter if he does not fumble and throw a big pick. Miami wins easy against the Bills without his costly turnovers.

I urge people to watch AFC Playbook on NFLN this week. It is one of the first segments looking at this week's game.

Sterling Sharpe, who has been very positive towards Miami this year, illustrated RT missing not just open receivers, but potential big plays.

I think he is rattled, seeing ghosts and gun shy from the hits.

What alarms me even more is the thing that loved most about him is how he rallies through adversity. I think he is slowly losing that trait along with not progressing properly. Very frustrating and kind of daunting as a fan that wants to see an answer at QB.
