Mike Wallace:
Wallace isn’t putting up great numbers but he is getting consistent numbers. Wallace is a far more rounded WR than at any time in his career. He is a legitimate dual threat who can cut the middle, play the outside, and still go deep and he continues his physical play. Wallace is now playing like a number one WR and while he had a huge outburst in the locker room following the victory in Jacksonville, it’s apparent that he is becoming a vocal leader as his outburst was directed at the poor play and slow start of the offense instead of anything remotely selfish.
Brandon Gibson:
Gibson is no longer starting in the slot but is still a viable option in the four receiver set but he is being pushed hard for playing time by Rishard Matthews. Gibson will be playing his final half season in Miami as it’s very unlikely that he will be brought back in 2015.
Rishard Matthews:
Matthews is still improving and caught his first TD pass of the season last week against San Diego. Matthews is simply watching and learning but when he is asked to make plays he has done so. Matthews is making a case for himself long term in Miami but he will need a lot more reps to make that happen.
Brian Hartline:
Hartline is almost non-existent. Not quite but almost. With the Dolphins finding ways to get the ball to so many other outlets Hartline is not longer the go-to receiver for Ryan Tannehill. He still has a lot of value because he is hard to cover and defenses need to be aware of the potential with him. He is still an excellent third down target and while his numbers are dipping slightly along with his targets, he is a perfect 2nd WR in this offense.
Jarvis Landry:
If you weren’t impressed with Landry in the first quarter of the season then you have to love the guy now. He is doing nothing more than attacking defenses and making plays. With each passing week Landry adds something else to his game. He is getting faster and quicker and developing a better understanding of reading NFL schemes. Landry is positioning himself for a long NFL career and potentially Pro-Bowl elections in the future.
Overall the Miami Dolphins wide-receivers have played leaps and bounds over what they showed in the first quarter and for that they improve from the C+ to an A.

I think and hve always thought that Miami still use a big body WR to complement what they already have and another big TE to make a serious push in the NFL.

Matthews has scored 2 TDs on both of his catches in back to back games the last 2 wks. He needs to be given more targets and opportunities.

Agreed, need to go with the hot hand. To keep defenses honest, we need big days out of certain players. I'm waiting for Clay, Wallace, or whomever to have a 150 yd day...this keeps DCs thinking.

Landry is ranked 34th DYAR 23rd DVOA.
Wallace 48th DYAR 48th DVOA
Hartline 59th DYAR 61st DVOA

Very impressive numbers for Landry and he's ranked side by side with Megatron on the season.

Catch rate:
Landry 75%
Hartline 60%
Mathews 55%
Wallace 52%
Gibson 50%

Landry is top 10 in the NFL in this stat. Brandon Cooks number one at 80%. For all the talk of Hartline's drops his catch rate is actually the highest of his career so far on the season.

Unreal we only have one PI called against us again this year, after having only 2 all of last year. The Patriots already have 9 this season. Very weird.

Stopped reading at Hartline is the perfect number 2 in this offense. Well not really, but i do think thats a huge stretch. Id say hes the perfect number 4 in this offense though. Wallace is the perfect #2 in this offense, and someone like Dez Bryant/devante Parker/vjax etc would be the perfect number 1 (not saying those guys are available but someone of that mold). I think a beast receiver puts this squad over the top: ie. beast, wallace, landry, matthews

Why stop there? How about a couple All-Pros on our OL and AP to hand the ball off to? All things considered, our WR unit is good enough to make a deep run. If we don't succeed or make the playoffs, it will NOT be because of missing "beast" at WR1.

Brian Hartline used to be a solid #2 WR, but he hasn't been the same since his knee injury. He's lost a step, and is not explosive at all.

So far this season, his 10.6 yards per catch is the worst of his career, by far.

I hope Rishard Matthews gets more playing time.

Patriot receivers cry interference every time they don't catch a pass. Every single one of them.

Well that's what happens when most of your playing time is red zone. I think he is a solid player but has another offseason of development to be more rounded. Honestly , I don't see any problem with the WR rotation as is. Lazor has been doing a solid job of rotating guys in to stay fresh and keep favorable matchups.

I do not see any of our WR's having an A year, not even close. As a group, it has been average at best.

Our best receiver is 34th in yards. Matt Forte has more yards than Wallace. No A's on this squad. I do think Wallace has played pretty well overall and I certainly see more fight in his game this year. Clay is coming on the last few games and I like what I see from Landry. However, as a group we're average. Hope we find another WR or bigger threat TE down the middle for next year.
