Miami Dolphins have brought on Troy Aikman

Definitely surprised by the news. Loved Danny as a player but Aikman is a better fit for this role. Ross seems to realize that. But Aikman seems very conventional in this thinking. Innovative doesn’t come to mind. He might lean toward conventional, boring old school thinking. I want an overhaul of the entire building, how they think, everything.

Unfortunately, Ross has always let internal politics run the show over competence. Who he likes.

As an example, Brandon Shore does nothing for me. They are in salary cap hell. They’ve been terrible with managing the cap for future years.

This organization lacks deep thinking. I don’t know if Aikman will think about it right. He might just be very vanilla in his logic. That’s how he sounds on TV. He’s not forward thinking.

I watch other sports and study other organizations. You can see the quality organizations have a much higher level thinking. Analytics and AI. The Dolphins use the term but they don’t know what it means. Strength and conditioning. Total mess. Player development lab. Minimal success. Cap management across various positions and years. Zero advanced thinking. Terrible at extensions. They let Gink walk out like a bunch of idiots. They extend Ramsey and then immediately regret it. Tua speaks for itself.

Grier wasn’t capable but Ross doesn’t get it either. And Garfinkel hides behind formula one but he’s a massive part of this too and the political structure internally. When the blind lead the blind, that’s what you get.

I’d be shocked if Aikman has studied forward-thinking organizations. They should get input from Andrew Friedman from the Dodgers; Matt Arnold from the Brewers; David Stearns from the Mets; Sam Presti with the Thunder; Pat Riley. Look at how forward thinking these guys are. They will tell the Dolphins how to build a modern thinking organization that attacks all aspects needed for success.
KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid), or "analysis can lead to "paralysis". Don't over-think it.

It was reported. Accurate? Who knows these days.

Your response is interesting, though, in that the actual facts are not really relevant to your position

You have made up your mind of what this "means", and that's that.

That's all I meant by ppl reading between the lines more than is there.

I get it. We all do to some extent. It's human nature. Some just aren't willing to admit it, or frame it for what it is
I really was just trying to figure out if Aikman's comments were made "after" Ross called him, or "before". After makes me think Aikman had some definite opinions moving forward on McD already, but if before, Aikman was just calling them like he sees them with no agenda.

That's why I liked Marino.. he shows emotion and cares when he messes up, or someone else does! Now, if he could have just found a more out-of-the-way broom closet! 🤣

Did you see the show where Brett Favre gets his record? Another one where he gets into with Phil Simms?
No I haven't seen those

Troy wasn’t making stuff up anyone watching he game was also disgusted 🤮 how the team came out in the second half let alone the last 10 minutes
Which goes to show if I am McD, I am going through my real estate agent cards this weekend.

I think Aikman calls it like he sees it regardless.

Well said. Aikman comes off as a guy whose contacts aren't the ones I actually want at GM.

Dolphins Seeking GM With Scouting Background; Latest On Mike McDaniel

Having gone without a full-time GM since parting with Chris Grier on Halloween, Miami is poised to move quickly in its hunt for a replacement, per Pelissero. Interim GM Champ Kelly will reportedly interview, but Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan and 49ers director, scouting and football operations Josh Williams are among outside names to watch, Albert Breer of SI.com relays.

This is the second time Sullivan has come up in connection to Miami’s GM vacancy since Grier’s exit. The 50-year-old has worked for the Packers since he began as a training camp intern in 2003.

Now in his 14th season in San Francisco, Williams is familiar with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, who was on the 49ers’ coaching staff from 2017-21. With the 7-9 Dolphins set to miss the playoffs for the second year in a row, McDaniel’s future is in question.
