Lawrence Timmons has tackled a man 976 times since he entered the NFL.
“Us old guys,” Timmons said Tuesday, “we’ve got quite a few.”
The Miami Dolphins linebacker has 24 tackles in four games this season and because it seems like he’s always so well positioned, so technically sound, so aggressive and accurate, The Daily Dolphin wanted to ask how he does it so well.
As an example of his tackling prowess, we showed four other Dolphins linebackers video of Timmons’ violent takedown of Matt Forte on a screen pass in Sunday’s game.

Just keep doing what you are doing Timmons....you had a dell of a game Sunday

Dude, you almost gave me a heart attack.....

I read the title: Miami Dolphins Lawrence Timmons breaks.......

And ALMOST **** my pants.

GREAT article btw. I wish more players understood how to tackle. What a great signing.

Rugby could teach football a lot about tackling. Because of helmets in football and the lack of necessity to wrap arms, a lot of players are very lazy about technique. They prefer to become human projectiles and just throw themselves into contact. Good skill players can turn that against the "tackler".

In rugby, with no pads or helmets - and a law that obliges the tackler to wrap his arms- the culture of tackling with technique is deeper and more widespread. They use various different techniques depending on the position of the tackler vis a vis the runner.

Timmons would be a very successful tackler in rugby, his technique is excellent.

It is super refreshing to have a linebacker on the field that consistently..........tackles.

I hope Timmons keeps his behavior in check so we can keep him around for one more season. He's been an absolute stud since he's been back. McMillan can learn a lot from him next season. I heard he took Shazier under his wing.

I'm still wondering why Pittsburgh would let him go lol Physically, the man looks like a god. He seemed to love Pittsburgh and apparently still does. We really are lucky to have gotten a Lber of his caliber for a pretty fair price IMO. Hayes and Timmons have turned the D around along with a few other players coming back or getting better. Gotta give the FO huge props for signing this beast and trading for Hayes for next to nothing. Both are veteran studs!! PHINS UP!!

Their loss has been our gain since he got his head on straight. I'm surmising that Timmons was caught in a youth movement in Pitt. They have Shazier, Watt, Dupree and another guy starting. The first three are all 25 or younger...

Hell yea brother!! He's been a huge spark on D and a big reason why our run D has been light years ahead of last year. We went from a horrid Lbing corp to a top 15 IMO. Even Rey, who we all fat shamed lol, has sure as hell made us realize how terrible Hull is. Kiko, Rey, and Timmons has been a beautiful sight to see after all the inept years of Lbing we had to endure. We have a top 5-7 front 7 IMO. Very talented. I cannot wait until TJ is back.

That's been the steelers MO forever. They let their vets go a few years early more often than not.

Its not so much about tackling. Its about tackling well. Kiko is good at getting people down, they just usually fall forward for extra yards.

Having a LB who can consistently drive people backwards has been a godsend for this team
